Ive read a little about people under volting the 4090 to keep it from running hot. Would you all recommend it? If so is it easy enough to youtube it? Pc arrivds tomorrow. Excited since ASA is so pretty

Undervolting was extremely useful with the RTX 30 series. My 3080 is tuned within an inch of its life. With that said, I haven’t heard much use out of UV the 4090. The coolers are generally over engineered for the amount of heat. Most are better off with a tuned OC instead of an UV.

With that said, yes, it’s very easy. Benny, want to give him a tutorial?

Any suggestions?

~$2400 + $100 to pay someone to build for you

If you want to save more money you can skimp on a cheaper mobo, a 7900xtx, or case. But I think that build I sent will be the best combo of aesthetics and performance you can get for that budget.

Thanks. One reason I was going to skip putting it together myself was because every single time I've done it in the past, at least one component was defective and I had to wait until I got a new one. Very disheartening, so I wanted to just skip that step. Still, the tough part for me currently is actually picking out the pieces so that's a big help.

Either I’m really lucky or you’re really unlucky, because of all of the times I’ve bought Pc parts nothing has ever been defective. The only thing I’ve seen is a friend buy bad ram. And if you pay a PC shop to build it, they’ll diagnose exactly what’s wrong with parts for you if it does end up happening, so no hair pulling trying to diagnose the issue yourself.

That's a pretty slick build. If you are going to do this yourself, don't forget fans. I doesn't look like that NV5 comes with any. Get some decent fans. That will add a bit of a cost.

The parts list I included comes with a 5 pack of Arctic PWM fans

The build has no rgb other than a built in led strip on the case, but blackout builds look really nice.

Yeah, aesthetics are very very low on my list. If it was just a black metal box that would be fine.

Also, you may want to wait a few months to see if their is an official announcement about nvidia’s “Super” refresh cards. Their are rumors that in the next few months nvidia could release upgraded versions of the 4070 and 4080 that potentially would assume the same price as their current cards or only be slightly more expensive. Could also lead to price cuts for the normal 4080 so could save some money. That is of course if you aren’t in a huge rush for a new PC.

Good to know. I'm not in a great hurry, mostly looking at something over the next few months, so I can probably hold out for a bit.

3DMark is currently on sale on Steam for a bit over $8, and includes the recent Speedway release, if anyone is in the market.

Mannn going from a curved VA to a flat VA is very difficult. Idk if I can do it. The washed out corners are so much more noticeable when you're used to them bent in towards you and retaining their clarity as if you're staring dead on. Now it feels like they're bent away.

It's actually pretty damn crazy how drastic it is after 5 years of curved. Now I understand why so many VA's are curved and how 1 million percent better it is.

I don’t have any experience with standard ratio curved, but “it looks like it’s bending backwards” is exactly how I’ve described the feeling anytime I’ve sat in front of a flat UW.

Have you seen that one monitor Corsair makes that allows you bend and change the curve of your monitor?

Corsair Xeneon Flex

I kind of hope this tech can get more refined and become more standard.

Yep. Jay has been fangirling over it for a while now. He got his hands on an early prototype and then got the production model early to review. Super interesting concept: LINK

While I have played console games all this time, I haven’t played on a computer since college.

I’m going to buy a desktop. I will probably play some FPS games on it like COD.

Am I going to regret spending a little over $1,000 for an i5 chip and 16GB RAM? Will that be obsolete in 6 months?

Do I need to just cough up $3K-$4K a legit system with i9 and 64GB ram?

You can easily split the difference and have a beast

7800x3d
7900xt/4070ti/4080 tier or something like a 6950xt for 600 and wait to see what happens with GPUs next gen

2k should get you everything you need
