What little we saw, she was playful and sassy and girly, not the scowling, angry, gruff chick we saw there. Given the trailer itself I get it though.
The books were a strange...but good ending. She was more morose than anything but then she gets an opportunity to put her trauma behind her and move forward.
The games are an alternate ending/continuation to the books, you get the sense that she has healed a bit. The worst ending(besides her dying) is her becoming a witcher.

Ya they could easily take the two other endings (besides her dying obviously) from the game canon and tell a story about how she's been on the road for years and seen some shite.
In that video when she revealed her face and the villagers freaked out, maybe they recognized her as the former empress who got tired of politics and said frick it I quit, I'm going on the path from here on out.
I do like the previous post mentioning how maybe she lost a lot of her OP powers battling the Frost. That would make sense, but they'll still need to explain how she got the mutations and can drink the potions.
Also, girls have been protagonists in games for decades, no one really cares

Ciri in the books is so far more insanely overpowered than she was in Witcher 3. By about book 4 when she sort of becomes the main character her power scaling starts to go insane
I mean she literally brings the bubonic plague back from space traveling to our world and that’s what they call the catriana in the Witcher universe lol
Still think the most likely and easiest way is what I suggested earlier

We can agree to disagree. One of the main pulls of video games is seeing yourself as the hero in the story.

Yep just give me a release date
eta: It's CDPR, so probably 2027 or 2028.

I think I read something a few days back, likely no doubt to be put out because they knew this trailer was coming, the game has been in full production for roughly a year with a team of 25 or so people working on it before that. I believe now it would around 300 for a company their size. I think absolute best is Christmas 2025 but most likely a summer of fall 2026 window

I’m so fricking happy it’s an established character and not a custom character creator. I am also fine with Ciri being the main protagonist she’s amazing.
i was very afraid they would try to come up with a new protagonist all together. I'm glad its Ciri. i will miss Geralt (im sure we see him in this game though), but his story is told.

They've barely started on it. 2028 most likely.

No way, it was 100% ciri the whole time. They have to have a female, which they know will piss off the fans if they make a new one, Ciri was their only choice from the get go.

Well, not necessarily. It depends on the style of story.
Ciri works best to keep combat and style in the flavor that was established in earlier games.
If you wanted to deviate and have a very different style of combat and story, then you could tell a story with Yennifer or Triss. It'd definitely be a very different game (and I wouldn't have it's title be "Witcher" except perhaps in the byline), but you definitely could have made stories outside of Ciri.
I think Ciri would be the one former players are more emotionally invested in seeing what's become of them.

I’m disappointed it’s not Gerald to be honest.
Like i’d be disappointed in a God
of War game where you play as Atreus
I generally play these games
to jump the character i’ve been playing, also to have a bunch of sex with Triss and Yennifer.

I'm interested, but have reservations.
Like, if they "Joel" Geralt, someone's lighting CDPR's offices on fire

Witcher 3 is my favorite game of all time. That being said, I couldn’t get through all of the books when I tried to read them after finishing the game. They can get really slow. I have no issue with them deviating from the books

Ya, female protagonists are fine occasionally if we'll done but there are way, way, way too many of them these days, completely disproportionate to the demographics the player base.

i dont think that will happen. I do feel like CDPR has a healthy respect for the sourced material and for Geralt's character.

It’s only going to be ok imo if they actually have her fight like a Witcher you know how she actually would? Like the way geralt and Eskel fight in Witcher 3 with the acrobatics and stuff. She does do that some in Witcher 3 but not near as pronounced. If they just make her a straight up sword fighter might be a deal breaker

She is wearing a cat medallion. I bet/hope they will make her fight quite a bit different from Geralt.
