Immersion - in visuals, environment, story is way overrated. Useless really, there are better mediums. Games that offer purely a challenge of manual skill, reflexes, timing, memorization, etc are infinitely more unique, enjoyable, and satisfying.
I only have one upvote to give.

Why are you the way that you are?
Maybe because I played it late and got it with the trilogy package, but I loved Mass Effect 3, especially with the Citadel DLC.

I get it's the point of this thread, but yuck
I've always been "I play games to enjoy and relax, not to get tested".

It's all relative and what I want at the time.
To paint with such a large brush is stupid.

RDR2 is boring and not sure if I will complete.
About 40% of the way through the story, and I've slowly started to like it more. But generally I agree, it's not an amazingly fun video game. Certainly not as purely fun as God of War or Spiderman, for example.
I kind of feel the same way about The Witcher 3. That's actually probably my most against the grain opinion. Great world, good quest design, good writing, etc. - a really impressive accomplishment, especially in 2015. But not all that fun to play.

I haven't been able to get more than an hour into The Witcher 3

Witcher 3 was pretty boring
Bioshock 2 was the best of the series
Mario + rabbid kingdoms is the best game out for the switch

I think story games are boring and tedious. I'd rather watch a movie.

Uncharted, RDR are boring yes.
But not all.

I just hate having to grind through the interactive part to get to the story part.
I do agree not all. I loved Metal Gear Solid, Devil May Cry, God of War, FF7-X, and a few others.

Why I could never get into the telltale games. Cutscenes really piss me off. I just want to play the damn game

I love the FF13 series and FF15.
I love No Man's Sky
I thought TLoU was great but nothing special
Uncharted is a bore
Smash Brothers series is meh
FF7 remake is going to be awesome
GTA V is the best GTA
Sony > Nintendo
Multiplayer gaming went downhill after Quake III Arena

Yeah I have mixed feelings about RDR2.
It's easily one of the most impressive video game worlds ever created. The size and attention to detail is mind boggling. You can also spend hours just wandering around exploring and doing side stuff, if you enjoy it you can do that sorta thing for 200+ hours in this game before you run out of stuff to do.
It has so much going for it and it's so amazing in some ways you feel almost bad criticizing it, but at the end of the day it simply isn't all that much "fun" which sounds like a huge problem, and it would be for most games, but RDR2 manages to still be good even without a lot of "fun'
They clearly didn't want it to be very "video gamey" in many ways, for better or worse.
I think they could have had the best of both worlds though. Had they upped the gameplay focus and just sort of very slightly toned down some of the more tedious elements, it would have been no less an impressive game.

Story and gameplay don't have to be enemies. There's absolutely nothing stopping people from making great games that also have happen to great stories, many have been made.
The issue is that there has been a growing focus by big developers on story to the point where gameplay is clearly secondary, or even worse an afterhthought.
Without gampelay it's not a game. Great gameplay with almost no story works. Great story with no gameplay is just a bastardized movie.
I have no interest in watching a DVD that occasionally pauses itself and I have to push a button or two to make it resume.
I strongly believe video games are art and for some reason a huge portion of the "video games should be art" crowd thinks imitating movies is the proper thing to do.
I view trying to turn video games into movies as an insult to the art of gaming.

The most inventive multiplayer games are found on a board, not on a screen.
Open World games have become one of the most boring genres of games, even though it is supposedly the apex of "being in the game."
In terms of pure gaming skill, 2D fighting games still can't be beat. On that note, Splatoon 2 has a higher skill cap than Overwatch or Fortnite.
Sports games are long due for significant innovation, and "Be a Player" modes are not it.
FPS are by and large a waste of time outside of Team Fortress 2 and a few others.
Game development is far too costly currently and the industry needs to restructure a bit.

The rise of the indie developers is who is white knighting for gameplay.
