I’m sick of not getting selected for Masters tickets and have decided to go to the other 3 majors while I wait to eventually get selected.
Wife has family she has been wanting to go and visit in NY so it works out to hit the US Open next year. Did anyone here go in 2018 and if so do you have any tips or pointers? Will have to commute from Astoria to the Hamptons for tourney day. Most likely will go just Saturday or Sunday.
Will check the PGA off at frisco and haven’t decided which Open championship in the next few years I’ll try to attend yet.(Maybe St. Andrews in 27)

They setup a temporary train platform near the course so almost any LIRR train heading that way will get you there. I took the Montauk line from Penn Station and it took a little over 2 hours. Trains are full of people going to the course, so it’s a great time. From Astoria, you’ll need to go in to Manhattan or get to the Jamaica station. I don’t think Jamaica will save that much time, so probably best to go into Manhattan in case the train is packed so you can guarantee a seat.
Can’t speak to driving and Uber would probably be $300 each way.

Just the kind of info I was looking for. Definitely think train will be the best bet. We will be flying up there and not even sure if they own a vehicle. I know it’s common for people in NYC to not.

One of the reasons I wanna go, on his 30th birthday no less. You can go on and bet the bank he gets it done.

Train or private bus will be best. There will be plenty of both.

I know that the PGA is the black sheep of the major family, but they make it easy to enjoy. I went to Southern Hills and Valhalla. I know this is built into the price of the ticket, but the "free" food and non-alcoholic drinks makes for a very relaxed, enjoyable day. For both tournaments, we got there when the gates opened and left when the sun was setting. We ate every meal out there. So, we never felt like we were ready to leave.

Hopefully they decide to plant some trees at PGA Frisco. The women's PGA looked like a nightmare with no shade.
