Solid advice. I believe DL3 said something along the lines of play for par (middle of the green) and the birdies will come. I'm many folks have said something similar. I always liked DL3 when I was growing up, and it stuck with me. I just wish I could apply it more frequently...haha.
Take it shot by shot, and don't look past the present. Otherwise, closing out a solid round will be difficult.

This was kind of my point in becoming "pressy" my college coach said there is nothing wrong with 36 putts at the end of the day if you're 18/18 GIR. 72 doesn't hurt the team.
I get his point but as a player, which I did this twice heading into nationals, but literally went 36/36 greens and 144 putts. It was the most frustrating two days of my golf career and I finished in 2nd place. Eventually some putts will drop but playing to the middle of the green every time will never hurt you as a player, regardless of skill level.

Yeah, I have always been a pinseeker with it's rewards and troubles.
Thinking about hitting the middle of the green is such good advice, but not as much fun all the time.

I have the mindset that every single shot I’m going to hit is going to be amazing. When it isn’t, I go hit it again and tell myself the same thing.

I played a lot of golf with DL3. I worked with his instructor Jack Lumpkin on occasion and lived on SSI for a while.
Also played a good bit with Gene Sauers (fellow Savannahian). Saw him shoot 66 and didn’t hit the ball anywhere but the middle of the green.

That’s not optimal at all.

I use a variation of the “center of the green” philosophy. I like to aim 5 yards toward the center of the green from wherever the pin is. So the only time I shoot for the pin is when it’s close to center.

Honestly play my best when I'm not even thinking about score and just playing holes.
did this on the 4th of july. ended up only playing 9 because it rained.....but not paying attention to my score at all until i par'd a par3 on #8, i knew that was 3 in row so i added them up quickly.......teeing off on #9 sitting at 36....and 41 being my lowest 9 ever. doubled #9 for my 42.
