Old Head in Ireland
Good to hear.. leaving for Ireland tomorrow for 6 days of golf. Sunday and Monday are at Old Head and I’m pumped.
Grew up in the Pinehurst area. Love those courses, especially after the renovations, but glad to see someone mention Tobacco Road - very unique layout, especially for that area. My high school golf team considered it for our home course but ultimately our coach decided we would never be able to walk and finish before dark
Renovation they did at Pine Needles is great too.
Live near Congaree now, and it’s my goal to try to get on. I might have a connection, but waiting for just the right time to play that card

I've never played anything close to those beautiful courses...
I have played Pinehurst #2 and #4, and Sedgefield CC. So just two PGA courses. Also played TPC Myrtle Beach and Caledonia.
Plan on playing TPS Sawgrass maybe later this year.
Heading to Myrtle in a couple of weeks though.. playing Heathland, King's North, The Witch, and possibly one more (not sure which yet) the last morning before heading home .

Just want to pop in again and thank everybody for their responses, I definitely have many bucket list courses now after researching many of these

How was Cal Club?
I liked Cal Club more than Olympic and Spyglass, though the first 4 holes on Spyglass are some of the best opening holes I’ve ever played.
They did an amazing job on the restoration. There was no one behind us, so our caddy would throw down fake cups on some of the greens and let us play the slopes and undulations. Unlike Olympic and SF GC, where there was a lot of pomp and circumstance, Cal Club was focused on nothing but golf. It was an all around great experience.

Medinah is in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
No shite. We flew in to Chicago and played Medinah before heading up to play the Koehler courses and Erin’s Hills. I was just too lazy to put “Wisconsin/Chicago trip”
Btw, staying onsite at Erin Hills is great. They treat you like royalty. They have a nice patio outside the lodge and we told the bartender it would be nice if we could eat there instead of the club house. 2-3 minutes later a waiter pulled up in a cart with menus and said to let him know what we wanted and they would bring it to us.

Quivira (Jack)
Been really wanting to play this one. Played the ocean course at Cabo del sol twice, that place is so much fun. Great tacos at the turn too

Quivira was fun and the views were amazing. I definitely want to play it again but if I had to choose I’d choose Del sol. Quivira is just so tough. Don’t sleep on Del Sol desert course. You still have great ocean views and the course is always in incredible shape

I could play that one hole where the fairway is about 80 feet about the tee, on the side of the cliff over the ocean, and the green is about 100 feet below the fairway all day

I have a video from that hole. How does one post videos?

No clue. I quit posting my own stuff here once PHotobucket stopped working

Oh well- Here’s a pic I took on that hole
