No you don't. As long as your ball is in play, being in the fairway is almost irrelevant on 99% of golf courses

Agree.

Although there are times when I am on property and I have to hit solid shots to find a way to keep doubles off the card.

I prefer the last tee time and bring the last one in just keep going until it's too dark to play. I can do that on my home course, membership, jump holes when it's empty. Love it.

I used to play two balls. Pretend I am in the final group all square at the us open. Ball 1 is me
Ball 2 is whoever.

Play each time the best of your ability and sort of do your own commentary in your head.

Great way to learn to play from all different areas and circumstances while trying to put as much pressure on yourself as possible

I do that with playing two balls after the drive. Honestly, it's usually because I dropped a second ball after F'ing up my approach shot. It's amazing how many times I can scramble with ball one and tie ball two. Gives me confidence to just say, hey, you F'd up that shot but you can recover.

Alone on a golf course is paradise. Enjoy the solitude.

I moved away from the people I used to play with, and as I’m a realtor planning a round is hard to do. I generally end up getting a round in on short notice when I have a day I’m not busy (rare) or have something planned and I get a cancellation.

Old Colony doesn’t take single tee times, so you end up being a work in. The rest of the public options aren’t generally very busy during the week. Their idea of a work in never involves pairing you with anyone.

I looked at joining Indian Hills, but getting charged nearly double what someone 20 years younger would pay offended me.

So it is what it is.

I’d love to be able to play solo but I usually know I’m getting stuck with 2-3 people I don’t know

I think solo is the best.
Drive. Where the ball lies, hit it.
Get on green. Putt.

Been playing solo a good bit lately. Anybody have any innovate idea to make playing alone more interesting?

Play a stableford and set a quota and try and match it. Bogey = 1 point, Par = 2, Birdie = 4, Eagle = 8. Take your handicap and subtract it from 36 to get your quota points.

I like playing this way because it lets me have those blow up holes and not totally botch my round.

A few tour players actually practice this way. It make them concentrate on shots they may not hit often.

I don’t usually mind getting paired up with people I don’t know but I wouldn’t mind a round by my self.

Country land, was going to let me just go as some days they pair but then just let you take off whenever. However, groups in front were all slow so after hole 1 I ended up pairing with another single player just to try to help pace of play some.
