I understand Sweetwater in Sugarland is running specials. One of their corses is/was under renovations after losing the greens to the freeze.
I belonged to Sweetwater for 2 years. Was happy to leave it.
Some good guys, but a lot of jerks IMO. If you bring a guest they just rape you on the guest fee. And honestly, I don't find the courses very exciting to play.
Just my opinion.

Yes, they really treat your guests very well too.
Riverbend always has fun tournaments and afternoon games.
One thing about the Course, it will make you use every club in your bag often, it's like Champions, it will make you a stronger player after a while.

I’m in the same boat with you… looking to get out of Kingwood, but can’t find anything comparable in pricing for this market

Here's the Pine Forest flyer. They have a slight waiting list for young executive of 1-2 months and 3 spots for regular membership:
Initiation Fees:
Regular Membership Initiation Fee: $10,000.00 + tax (Published Fee is $13,500 + tax)
Young Executive Membership Initiation Fee: $3,000 + tax
Associate Membership Initiation Fee: $750 + tax

After you factor in the Cart and other ancillary stuff, you are probably looking at $700+ a month dues...
The food allowance thing always made me laugh. If you have a good atmosphere, good food and a good bartender, I'm going to spend way over that allowance anyway.

My friend was a member out there for a couple years. Good course and great locker room.
Just googled, only 26 minutes away from Rice. This would be a no brainer for me.
ETA: I lived in Houston before these areas had names. I went to high school right there, and I've never heard of "Rice Military". I just assumed this was the West U area.

GCOH is a sister club of my club and the initiation is between 18-30k depending on how old and family or not.
I like it because I have 5 courses for the price of 1 and we have real good games at GCOH.
Downside is it is managed by Escalante and they aren't worthy of managing nice clubs. I have been looking to join somewhere else lately but will keep the membership to continue to play with the group of guys that I have been playing with for last 10 years.

Not bad considering clubs in the area are more.
I'd rather play Riverbend than Blackhawk any day.

This thread has me thinking about Riverbend now. I am about 30 minutes away inside the loop but still seems like a lot of value

Honestly KCC is hard to beat especially with 72 holes.
Especially if you live in Kingwood. Not sure I would be thrilled if I was making a lengthy commute to come in to just play golf with the new rates but I train in the gym every morning, play a few times a week if possible, and go to the range at the Advantage school a lot. My daughter also enjoys the water park even though we have a pool.
Food is kinda meh but I didn't join KCC for the grub.

Riverbend is probably the best option. Course is always in good shape. Locker room is fun and the bartenders make some stiff drinks. Easy to get a tee time, and never backed up. Lots of guys under 40 given the price. Weekend guest fees are $115.
For whoever asked - HCC is like 125 to join and 900+ a month. Also a legit 2+ year initiation process.

That’s about what river oaks is and I hear lakeside might have an assessment coming up that will put it close to that range as well.

Seems like Lakeside CC is always having a assessment.

HCC and ROCC are more of a status and social club than just a golf course
ROCC is the better of the two courses but both are very nice. Having said that, it been years since I’ve been lucky enough to play ROCC.

Was at Lakeside a few weeks ago and the plan for the new course looks really cool.
Posted on 6/22/22 at 11:20 pm to Cleathecat
Lakeside will be 115k to join for people on the list now. Was 90k and the assessment will be 25k for the new course. The 115k includes the assessment
