LONDON and WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.: The opening weekend of the 2023 LIV Golf League on The CW Network generated an audience of over 3.2 million total viewers across all linear and digital platforms, as viewers tuned into the groundbreaking golf league’s three-day competition on February 24-26. Data is provided in partnership with audience measurement provider iSpot (Source: iSpotTV linear viewing data P2+ for 2/24-2/26/23) along with internal CW and LIV Golf digital data.

“Internal LIV data” Nice
Also, why do we need to break down all platform numbers for LIV, but other ventures we just do ratings and don’t take the time to break it down further? Makes you wonder
Also 3.2 million total viewers is still really really bad

If you expected an upstart golf league on CW to beat out the PGA on CBS/NBC, then that’s on you. It will take years to siphon off viewers. It was never going to be overnight.

I love how you’re using total viewers for LIV and average viewership for the PGA Tour which you know is disingenuous.

Only downhill from here for LIV.

Its hard to call this an upstart when they paid a ton of money for some of the biggest names in golf over the last 20 years.
This isn't the XFL that is pulling together a bunch of undrafted D2 players. They have 12 major winners on the LIV tour.

Looking at the brand new PGA format, it would seem as long as the PGA lives then LIV golf will be seen.
Don't be surprised when Alfalfa comes out soon to talk about their brand-new team concept. Just like the Ryder Cup.

For the month of January, PGA only averaged something like 2 million total viewers over 4 days.
This is 3.2 million over 3 days. Seems pretty good for an event nobody knew about on a channel that doesn't carry sports.

you mean when the only place you could watch the PGA was on TGC? and when the NFL playoff were on?
Yeah bro, thats exactly the same as LIV's

I wonder what the total viewers were for the WM and Genesis? Also, Bay Hill should do really well too.

I'm not knighting for either one. I just think its ridiculous to compare any event against the NFL playoffs. We can bitch and ridicule the NFL all we like, but its still the dominant weekend TV event in January.

“Southern football had a total of 93k fans for the 2022 season. Almost tying the average of 100k fans for lsu”

So independent sources are saying the numbers are pretty low.. LIV reports a number 10x greater?? Lol.. yeah ok.. something tells me a little trick arithmetic was in play there..

LIV will probably fail miserably but I do get a kick out of everyone just expecting their ratings to be awesome in year #2. It was always going to take years for their product to gain interest.

LIV needs one of their players to win a major. IMO that is the best thing that could happen for them.

I would think that the LIV swung for the fences on getting talent...says otherwise. You don't spend billionish on star players to take years to get viewers.

I wish the LIV tour stuck to golf instead the other BS. I'm fine with shotgun start, although the final round should be tee times. Don't mind that they have teams, but the music and all the other hyped up crap is not needed. It's obvious LIV is a serious threat to the PGA, after all, the PGA just announced more no cut tourneys.
