I watched most of Sundays round of LIV. It was more entertaining than the PGA event. If you take all the politics out of it, it's great to watch. If they would come up with better graphics, it would be easier on the eyes. Not sure why people have to be so one or the other. I enjoy watching golf, I could care less which tour I'm watching as long as the course is interesting.

I disagree as the vast majority does as well clearly

When I watch it it feels “fake”. It has no juice or edge at all from a fans perspective watching

How in the world can you forget Pat Perez? Or Harold Varner III? Hall of famers indeed.

Poor setup and doesn’t seem like there is much on the line. Also, seems some of the players have regressed since jumping with their guaranteed contracts.

Does LIV even need ratings?

Isn't that organization propped up only by middle eastern money?

They have billions more to waste on golf.

The issue for LIV is the player contracts, several of which I think are expiring in the next year or two. Will the PIF double down on the investment and throw big money at guys like Brooks/Bryson again? You could certainly understand why they wouldn’t want to. If a few of those expire and they jump ship back to the PGA the thing is toast

So those guys got paid like high 8-9 figures and it was only for a few years? I thought they were like lifetime deals. I admit I was just assuming. But that seems insane for LIV to gamble on.

Then why is that all you talk about on here? If it's dead then just let it die.

This is why I didn't blame a single player who left. Everybody that was offered should have left. Get an astronomical amount of money (plus LIV tournament winnings) that you wouldn't make in a lifetime on the PGA Tour and if you want, in a few years just go back to the PGA Tour. It was a no brainer.

Your statement only works for a select few

Most of the players that left aren’t going to ever be back on the tour

And why is that?

Because their product is neither good nor interesting enough to compete with an almost 100 year old tour. Nor is it good enough to compete with the 50 million other things people spend their time on.

The ratings are right there proving it continuously, and LIV knows it, even with them spending Mickey Mouse money.

If they aren't good enough to make it back on tour, then it especially smart for them to get the money.

Bubba Watson, by pretty much every metric is not even a good LIV golfer. Easy to say he would have done absolutely crap on the PGA Tour over the past few years. Being generous, what maybe 2-3 million in winnings? The dude has made 60 million dollars with liv. It was a very wise decision.

There are dudes like Rickie Fowler, who is virtually irrelevant on tour now, that could have made massive amounts of money by switching over instead of grinding it out on the tour. Plenty of other guys like that.

If the ultimate goal is just more money of course LIV is the right play

I think some guys have come to the realization tour money and tour play is more satisfying than the extra liv money with liv play

First of all, you say this about anything involving LIV because you're years and thousands of posts into one side of this argument.

Second, "For LIV Golf, it's the highest-watched U.S. broadcast to date, topping the 432K that watched Joaquin Niemann win the season opener in Mexico last year."

Third, "On Friday, LIV Golf on Fox (389K) outdrew PGA Tour viewership on Golf Channel (327K)"

Quit trying to be some low-rent rage bait troll and look at the context before you throw a hissy fit.

What does this mean when it’s the first ever American broadcast on Fox?

Comparing cable to non cable..

Lets see who is a joke

You made a thread, shitting on TGL ratings.

Well, TGL on Monday on cable averages the same viewers as weekend LIV on Fox

Clearly you never imagined LIV ratings would be this bad or you wouldn’t have made fun of TGL ratings that were actually higher here

LINK

So if 600k on cable on Monday means the shine has wore off, what exactly does 400k on Fox on a weekend mean

As you said, oof

TGL had a match with 160,000 viewers on ESPN2 that airports, restaurants, bars, and barber shops around the world have on as background noise

The primetime event that night also had a staggering 291,000 viewers!

Im bookmarking this post as well for future liv weekends on Fox….

Question, do you think LIV on the North American swing averages more or less viewers on FOX weekend than TGL averaged on ESPN and ESPN 2 on mondays and tuesdays?

quote:

The average viewership for TGL's Season 1 was approximately 513,000 viewers per match.

Considering LIV just had a stacked leaderboard and didn’t hit 513k it ain’t looking good

If LIV was given a primetime slot on ESPN, they would certainly reach or exceed the 500,000 viewer average that TGL is putting up. Thats not even debatable. Probably 100,000 of those "viewers" are just background play in public locations, not active watchers.
