Made a mistake and played LSU yesterday

Holy crap, that place is terrible. The greens are basically wet sand, the rough is a foot thick and littered with lost balls and the tee boxes have weeks worth of old tees on them. Then a group of four jumped in front of us and had one golf bag and they were all sharing clubs. Are they ever going to give a shite?

I hate to hear this. I played a lot of golf there in college. It may be time to shut it down

I’m surprised it’s still there

I have a very low threshold for what I consider playable conditions, and LSU is beyond acceptable. I left six holes in a few weeks ago.

Every year they do a little less in their active quest to get this course cleared to tear down and build other shot on top of.

Haven’t played the course but I like the range

What’s sad is the layout actually is decent. Back in 2018 it was usually in decent shape but something happened with the superintendent and it’s gone downhill since. My two years I lived down there I played it a lot because it was the closest course to my work and the range/practice facilities are solid

Haven’t played there in years but heard similar reviews. Tried convincing some buddies not to play there but they went anyway...they walked off on 6

Mike left for Santa Maria and the course has never been the same
Sucks LSU was a great course for college students. Played there a shite ton

Why is LSU letting their course go to hell?
University courses are supposed to be some of the best courses around.
Duke, UNC, and NC State are some of the nicest courses in the state.

MANY years ago that place was almost perfect. On game days, you could get an 8am tee time, play 18 and you were basically tailgating when you walked off the 18th. Only downside was it was BYOB. That was before they moved the front 9.

That's my thought as well. Mizzou has a solid University ran course open to the public with discounts for students. It's always in good shape. No excuse for LSU Golf Course not to be better. School has plenty of money and the course is a good affordable option for college students and the public who can't afford a membership at UClub

Do the golf teams at those schools play/use the facilities at the school course or a club? IRCC LSU’s men and women play/practice at a club course in BR

I guess they are moving all their resources to UClub and just leaving the course for the students to run.

That is crazy. I could understand two guys sharing a bag, especially at a college course. I just couldn't imagine the stones on a foursome that plays so little golf that they have one set and still jumped in front of you.

Mizzou plays at a separate private facility called Old Hawthorne. The university owns the student/faculty course, AL Gustin

I played it a lot from '10-'13 and really didn't have much complaint. A large group would hold me up every now and then but I would just go around and come back if I was by myself. Other than that, I enjoyed it when I played it. I used to go to the range a lot more than I played the course and that was usually in pretty good shape too. Shame that it's gotten so bad.
I had a relative of mine say he played it last year and it was in awful shape then as well.

Plenty of affordable options to the public. BREC Season pass is as cheap as golf gets.
