My daughter is 16 and she has come to her mom and I wanting to learn to play golf. She is my most athletic child, but hasn’t found a sport that stuck other than making Tik Toks. She has done many sports and activities since she was young: competitive cheer, dance, softball, powerlifting, and volleyball. She loves volleyball but got started late and while she works hard, over and above the school requirements, she is way behind. And that is causing her limited practice opportunities on her team and she is quite discouraged.

In any regard, golf. She thinks she wants to try golf. Where would you recommend in Baton Rouge region for lessons and beginner access to the game to help her learn how to play?

I play and I by most standards suck. Scoring mid 90’s and once a year upper 80’s. I would be a bad influence on her if I tried to help her. I appreciate anyone taking a few minutes to even consider responding and am grateful for any responses.

If you can shoot in the high 80's, that's plenty good enough to teach her the basics. Then when you get her lessons with a pro at least she'll have some baseline knowledge and plus it will be a priceless bonding experience.

For what it's worth I've heard girls who can break 70 can basically get a full ride to any college they want right now.

Get her a series of lessons.

If she likes it, she will ask to practice everyday until the next lesson.

Then when she is able to contact and advance the ball adequately, play 9 at a par 3 course or the most forward tee at a local municipal course. I would say “when it’s not crowded” but those days are gone.

No need to get on the course before you can at least strike/hit the ball forward with each swing. IF you go on the course, pick up after triple bogey. There is no need to punish yourselves before you are ready.
