Can some golf advice be outdated vs new club technology or other changes?

The manufacturer always suggests changing clubs every few years - but they want you to buy new shite

According to some idiots around here, chipping with a 7i is outdated.

Yes. Modern drivers shafts and the solid core ball have changed the game on driving instruction

Sometimes.

For lower swing speeds like mine, decreasing the loft of my driver has helped me gain distance.

The old advice was to increase loft of driver.

I make sure I have a positive angle of attack. If you swing at 125mph, it is not as imperative to have a positive angle of attack, but for me and many seniors and ladies- decreasing driver loft may lead to more distance.

What's amazing is even with the modern equipment, they scoring average has really not changed much on Tour.

In over 35 years of golfing, the ball is the most impactful. The balls of today want to fly straight even on miss hits.

Lowest Actual PGA Tour Scoring Averages
All of the lowest actual PGA Tour scoring averages have been recorded since the year 2000 ... except for one that goes all the way back to 1945.

68.17 — Tiger Woods, 2000
68.34 — Byron Nelson, 1945

I can't even imagine shooting a 68 with hickory shafts...

I think a lot of this has to do with greens being much faster and tougher now. I feel like lies are way tighter too. The equipment they have now to perfectly manicure a course how they want it has progressed just as much as club tech.

and the courses are bigger.

So if you bring modern stuff to an old course...
