Options to get 10 y/o playing near The Woodlands

My 10 year old is showing a little interest in golf right now. I played a lot growing up, but fell out of it when I got serious about baseball mid-way through high school. Trying to pick it back up with him. We've gone to top golf a few times. Wondering what are some good options (driving ranges, par 3 courses, etc.) near The Woodlands that wouldn't be too intimidating for him (and me
) just getting into it. Obviously a lot of courses around us, but not at a point in the near future to be able to play with him at that level even if they weren't mostly private clubs.

Go to Spring Valley on Gosling, Theegala was teaching his girlfriend there.
Also check out West Fork on 105, it's got a range too.
I'd suggest lessons also.

I’m over in Kingwood. We are members of the CC here and they have various Summer golf camps that are open to members and non members. I would think that there would be something similar in the Woodlands. When my son was that age we literally enrolled him in damn near every one of those plus they have weekly instructional sessions during the school year. The golf teachers here make them fun. However, I didn’t push golf though. Maybe I should in hindsight. I just prayed that he would somehow get attached to it like I did as a kid. I grew up playing golf too and luckily had buddies that played in high school as well so it wasn’t uncool to golf. That’s the key to them picking up the game. Friends playing or them being close enough to a family member to get them attached. Unfortunately it didn’t take for my son and he is 27 now. He played football and wrestled so golf became uncool since none of his friends did it. Now he is coming back to the game and wants to kick himself for quitting.

Lots of clubs offer junior summer camps for kids and you don’t have to be a member to sign up. Lake Windcrest Golf Club might be good to look into.

The biggest issue is all of the other activities. He's in baseball, BJJ/Kickboxing, robotics club, etc.. And I can dive into my own hobbies in the free time I'm not escorting him around town. But I've got the bug again to start playing, so they'll be more time that we'd carve out for it. Do plan to get him some lessons once he can regularly get the ball off the ground and such.
He's already booked up for the summer with camps. But will definitely look into it next year.

I was the same way. My kids got into lots of sports just to see what would stick honestly. It gets overwhelming on top of pursuing your own hobbies.
Not to hijack but what school is he at? I got into BJJ about 17 year ago and know some instructors in the Woodlands. In fact we have a school in Conroe. I used to train there a lot but that drive got to be such a hassle. I love jits but it has torpedoed my golf game so many times since I have had so many injuries.

Most courses are private around there.
Agusta Pines has a good practice area.
Also River Plantation as well and is smaller and maybe less intimidating. The course is trash tho.
There’s a strictly range/practice facility off 105 west of 45. Can’t remember what it’s called.

He's at a Gracie Barra on Research (Joel Heinan). It's a cattle call for the kids classes and I know GB is a bit like that. But I do like the people there. I did it for several months when I was working from home, but have no time with a new work role. Got to know the instructors through that and like it for him. As you said, it's one of many things we try to get him to latch onto. He enjoys doing them all, but hasn't found something outside of video games that he latches onto. He's pretty much just hanging out with friends for those other activities. Which is good, but he's not going to excel at any of them. Like he never wants to work on BJJ positions or go hit off a tee for baseball. But he'll pick up the putter and practice on the putting mat, so want to see if it sticks.
And I regret not sticking with it myself. At 13-14 I could keep up with the adults, but it was always secondary to baseball. So, at around 15 I pretty much completely quit. Maybe played 4 times in the last 20 years outside of messing around at the range. I work in Business Development, and it would be great to have stuck with it and be a decent golfer.

I remember High Meadow Ranch in Magnolia having kids golf camps etc. beautiful course. Expensive to play a round but great range.
Possibly Cypresswood too would be decent.
Edit: From looking on HMR website they have what looks like a great Player Development program which includes unlimited range use for like $115 a month for family. Plus various clinics and discounted golf lessons. May be worth looking into. Not sure where in the Woodlands you are though.

Golf World on 105
Picked up a set of junior clubs for him this Friday and went to Golf World with him. When he had mess around with it before, he was swinging some old adult clubs my dad cut down or the kids clubs at Top Golf. He actually did really well. I thought he'd need some time before jumping into camps or lessons. The guys at Golf World have 2 day camps throughout the summer. Will probably be getting him in one of those. Had a few people comment that they are good with kids there.

We moved to Scotland when I was 13 and my dad never got me to play golf. It’s a damn shame cuz I coulda been a contender. Ice in my veins dawg
