Lot of guys do that and win more than one major.
He just seemed to not be a killer in majors.
Won the Masters, but I thought he’d have a multi-major career.
Els won multiple majors.
I thought “Freddie” would be equal to Faldo or Seve in major total, but it did not happen for him.
Lee Janzen won 2. Mark O’meara won 2. Sandy Lyle. Bernhard Langer. Olazabel. The Duck.
Payne Stewart- multiple.
Freddie and Tom Weiskof (sp) are the 2 players that standout as far as 1 major being a little disappointin
Harrington has 3 but... Overall I think I would rather have Couples career than Paddy's
I'm also one that thinks the Players is major.ish you win against that field and you have done something

He had two really good years. My point is he's overrated. He's got one major but lots of PGA fans hold him in very high regard. Some would put him in the 2nd tier of American golfers in history, with the likes of Lee Trevino, Ray Floyd, Ben Crenshaw, and Phil Mickelson.
But to me, he should be 4th tier with guys like Jim Furyk. Couples' equal on tour was DL3. Does anybody revere DL3 the way they do BoomBoom? No.

Shooting your age is really hard. I can’t imagine shooting your age in the final round of a tournament.
7 birdies in a row to finish…. that’s amazing

Interesting...who would be third tier?

My tier 3 poster boy would be DJ. Johnny Miller, Jimmy Demaret, etc. I don't think Freddie won nearly as much as those guys. He probably lost some good years due to injury. And I'm probably discounting his wins on the senior tour but that is impressive. I just don't think it eclipses what a lot of other guys have done in the game.

They should. Couples bests him by a mile in the likability factor, but I always thought it a shame that he couldn't win at least another major. He had the distance and the game to do it.

GOAT Tier: Jack, Tiger, Bobby Jones
Legend Tier: Hagan, Sarazen, Player, Snead, Hogan(almost GOAT level), Palmer, Trevino, Tom Watson, Seve, Faldo, Michelson, Byron Nelson
Would you put Hogan up there in the GOAT Tier?

I like Hogan in 2nd (legend) tier. I don't think there is much to separate him from Snead and Palmer.

I think in 1953, he won Masters, USOpen, and the Open.
Did not enter PGA as it was match play with 36 holes on Saturday and Sunday.
He’s so close to GOAT level that I could see it either way.
One name I neglected was Byron Nelson. Legend Tier. Will edit

Im not a huge Couples guy but without severe back injury issues he wins a lot more event and probably multiple majors. He had terrible back issues
