Always been a Vokey guy. Had a set of SM7s, 52, 56 and 60. K grind, really loved them but had big gaps from my 44 ZX5 PW to the 52. Basically a 135-110 gap.

Just bought SM9 50, 54 and 58. 58 is a D grind which has this super flat sole. Don’t really like it at all and the 50 just really isn’t addressing my gap/doesn’t feel great full swing.

Thinking I’ll get a 48, 56 and 60 but interested in something different than Vokey.

Anyone super high on Cleveland or the TM high toe? Have a relative discount with TM so that is attractive but don’t hear a lot about their wedges.

Cleveland RTX6, have the 50, 54 and 60. They really grip the ball and have a lot of spin.

Mizuno now has a wider variety of grinds, not as many as Vokey but the wedges are forged and have much better feel IMO than the milled wedges.

Which grind do you play?

Can anyone here talk grinds to me like I’m a golden retriever?

one are all C grinds so basically what an old school cleveland classic wedge was. Relief in the toe and heel. They have low bounce for firm conditions. Also let’s me open the face without having to worry about having too much bounce. I have a 58 that is the D grind it is higher bounce I use it in early spring when conditions are soft sometimes.

Can you explain this from a feel standpoint?

Playing here in Dallas on Bermuda and Zoysia fairways, I feel like my 60 K grind gets me way better spin and control than my 58 D grind.

Which one is supposed to be more ideal for plush fairways vs firm?

My Vokey 50 and 52 typically feel “dead” even with clean hits on full swing. Very interested in Mizuno forged for that very reason.

I have T22s and they feel great on center hits and chipping, but like any club if you can’t hit center you know it. The K grind was developed for Adam Scott and around bunker play. The D grind is high bounce so better for soft conditions or steep angle of attack. I just like using low bounce wedges cause I can use them from tight lies easier. When you open the face of a wedge you are adding bounce. So a High bounce wedge opened up has an extreme amount of bounce so much that I have trouble keeping it from hitting the ground and bouncing into the ball vs sliding under the ball. I and the same problems with Vokeys they just felt dead regardless of strike.

I just bought some Hi-Toe wedges. I haven’t played much with them yet so still adjusting, but really liking the feel of them.

haven't spent any time reading but is the logic on the hi toe more contact for spin?

Love my Cleveland cbx 52, 60. Still trying to find a good 56 on eBay.
Recently re-gripped an old Taylormade RAC. Love it.

Last year played a Vokey SM8 56D12. Just never really liked it.

This year got Cleveland RTX Zipcore 54 Mid and 58 Full and love them. Use the 54 for everything 60 yards in and the 58 from bunkers.

The Zipcores feel so much better than the Vokey and the Mid bounce is just a good all around option for me.

It's great that Vokey has all these bounce and grind options but we're not pros and sometimes we just need to keep it simple, Low, Mid, Full.

Kind of where I'm at. Need a good way to try a range of wedges out not in a simulator.

The psuedo wedge fitting I got for free after doing irons and metals felt pretty stupid indoors.
