I know you've all seen those memes or short videos of a new golfer hitting a beautiful flush shot sticking it right next to the pin and instantly falling in love with the game. I know each and every one of us has been there and experienced that same thing. It's why we keep coming back.
Wednesday night I went out and threw down an all-time best score for 9 holes posting an even par 36 in an up and down 3 birdie, 3 par, 3 bogey round. Broke 40 for the 4th time this year. Last year I shot a 39 once, first time ever breaking 40. I think I might be getting better at this game.
Last night I go out and put up a respectable (for me) 41. The best part about that round is that my game was even better than the night before when I shot par. Grooving drives down the middle, solid iron play, short game was ok. The difference was those birdie putts just wouldn't drop and I 3-putted two holes turning potential birdies into bogeys.
Point is, being an amateur golfer means being inconsistent. You're going to flush some shots, you're going to shank some shots. You're going to post a good round, and the next week you're going to absolutely suck.
Embrace the suck.

My man, every time I play I’ll shoot around a 40 on front nine…vibes are high. Then I’ll proceed to shoot a 51 on back nine.
Every. fricking.time.
Every. fricking.time.

What will really chap you, start on 10 instead, then 51 on the back nine then will at least be different

I need to start thinking this way. I can start off playing ok, but one terrible shot puts me in a negative spiral.
