for pristine condition and views.

Sad that there are no spectators. Japanese are crazy about the sport and Matsuyama representing the host as the reigning Masters Champion would have been a zoo of a gallery.

Saw they basically shut the course down and only let 20 rounds a day or some silly low number like that for some time before the Olympics.

I wonder what the expenditures were to make it as pristine as it is.

My son is absolutely losing his shite over the untucked shirt on the Italians.

"They teach you that at the First Tee for F sakes!"

Broadcast called it "closed" since May. AGNC is also closed for a significant time prior to the tournament, but I don't know how long.

Regardless, beautiful course. Not sure why that opinion has some butt hurt on this thread.

Augusta is not closed prior to tournament. It closes after a member event around Memorial Day. It opens in October.

Why Azinger? He is terrible.

NBC has the Olympics and Azinger is their lead golf analyst.

Meh. Azinger doesn't bother me that much.

Son is stoked. Was in the Pro Am with Straka at the Barbasol two years ago.

Course looks incredible. IMO bent greens and zoysia fairways/rough make for the best conditions. Balls in the fairway sit up, greens roll true, and the rough is penal

Kind of wish they’d have gone against typical golf culture and allowed shorts and tee shirts

No.

This course is a teddy bear, while AGNC is a grizzly. It’s nice to look at, but it’s easy.

I've really missed the "get in the hole" guys...

Doubt they would exist in Japan anyway

1) I said for condition and views, not difficultly.

2) Is AGNC really that difficult? The champion hasn't been single digits to par but 8 times since 2000. DJ hung -20 on it last fall. It's wide open and has what can only be described as a frog for a rough. And that's only within the last 10-15 years or so. The local rules allow a free drop if you hit it into the gallery. Gorgeous course, tradition like no other, a unique fan experience, and a bucket list tournament for anyone that is remotely interested in the game, but a grizzly? Absolutely not.
