Titleist GT3 review

So I got to hit my GT3 for the first time this morning. Initial thoughts…
•It’s the best sounding Titleist I’ve ever hit (just beat out 909D2)
•it feels really good and sets up great.
•I think it might be a touch longer, front to back than TSR3, but I could be wrong.
I had a TSR3 with a Ventus Blue TR and with the GT3 I have a Tour AD VF. I think those shafts are extremely similar in feel. But my dispersion is better with the GT3. To be honest, if I hit both perfect perfect, they’re prolly a yard apart. It’s the misses and the spin retention or spin reduction (depending on the miss) is what makes it impressive. Thin shots don’t skyrocket in spin, and high toe don’t necessarily dive bomb. I think it’s a great driver. I know the 650.00 price is a turnoff, but I play 80 to 100 rounds or so a year, so it’s worth it. I’ve also tried the ai smoke TD with Ventus Blue+ for a while and I think this set up is better. Titleist is about to sell a lot of these. I’m not loyal to a brand either, including ball I have 5 different brands in the bag. If anyone has any questions, fire.

I posted my fitting results in the other thread. The GT3 feels and sounds like a wooden bat to me. My fitter said a lot of people were making that comment. Not necessarily a bad thing, but its crazy different in sound and feel than my TSi2

It feels insane that this is where we are, even if I played 200 rounds a year over $600 for a driver is madness.

Didn't you get on me last week for the building a 3 wood with a upgraded shaft and what it cost ?
In all serious, if a certain combo upgrade works for you, it's probably cheaper in the long run, than swapping out clubs regularly.
Glad you like the new club.

I did. I was fitted for this setup, and plan on keeping it longer than 10 mins lol. Seemed like your 3 wood build was “I’ll give it a whirl” kinda purchase

Actually I put more thought and research into building that club than any other purchase that I have made.
I'm lucky in that fact that I have tried and experienced so many types of clubs and shafts along with friends in the golf business.
Anyway, good luck with your new driver and it becomes a big asset in your overall game.

ai smoke TD with Ventus Blue+
I've got this setup, and it's the best driver I've ever played by far. I'm a Titleist guy, and would love to have an all Titleist bag again, but it's gonna be hard to beat that TD. I played the TSR line (2 and 4) for a year and a half before the Cally beat them out.

How and where did you get the GT3 with the Graphite Design Tour AD VF for $650? The shaft is a $200.00 upgrade.

Yea, I thought that would be a 800.00 combo through retail.
I love my AiSmoke with a Graphite Design DI6 shaft. I can hit it all over the face and it wants to go straight.

It's $849 + tax which would make it around $935.00. My son got the TSR2 with the upgraded Ventus Blue shaft and it was over $1000. The prices are becoming ridiculous but the shaft does make a difference. I have a Sim2 with a Graphite Design AD IZ 5S, I love it. I have tried all the new drivers and I haven't found one that makes that much of a difference where I want to spend another $700 on one. Edwin Watts still has some new Sim2 drivers left and I should buy one of them as a backup so when my current one gives out I can just change out the shaft since it has the same tip, They're only $299

I’m saying that the normal retail price of 650.00 could be a turnoff for the general public.

This is for sale if anyone is interested. Maybe 7 rounds with a Callaway tip.
