I'd like to get my dad some better than average balls. $40-60 budget. What would a golfer want in that price range?

Srixon Z stars and they offer buy two get one free every year for their Fathers day sale

You can get a dozen high end balls for that price, or you can get 3 dozen Srixon Q-Stars with their buy 2 get 1 deal for about 60. Maybe a hair more, but Q-Stars are a great ball for the price.

What does he play now?
If your Dad is a single digit handicap and plays alot of golf I'd get him either the ProV1's or ProV1X's...whichever suits his game better. If he's any higher I'd go with the Srixon deal these guys mentioned.

Pro V1, Callaway Chrome soft, TaylorMade TP5. All great balls, just depends on his preference. Definitely can never go wrong with Pro V1

I play the Q star tour divides and love them. They have the buy 2 get 1 deal going right now at Dicks. Just loaded up on them.
They also have last year's Z Star's for sale for $35, which is a great price. LINK

What does he shoot and honestly you can get 2 dozen of the new Kirkland ball for 27.99. Just get him 4 dozen and he should be good for the season. You spend $55.

His score and mostly his swing speed should be a factor. Pro V1 are great balls just not for someone who slices all of the time or has a slow swing speed.

Agreed. Most golfers should not play a Pro V series ball.

High HC’ers don’t get all the benefits from PRO-V1 that the pro’s do, but normal drivers don’t get all the benefits from a Ferrari that professional drivers do. No matter the HC, it’s always nice to open a box a brand new Pro V1’s :)

Best on a budget.
Maxfli Tour - Dick's 2 dozen for $70, 4 dozen for $120
Vice Pro – SAMs 2 dozen for $50
Oncore - buy 2 dozen, get one dozen free
Snell – MTB $33 / dozen, $150 for 5 dozen
