I like to end my sessions with 20/30 minutes on the elliptical. Does this counteract the gains from lifting?

It likely doesn’t help but unless you’re a competitive bodybuilder it probably doesn’t really matter.

I’ve always read that cardio should be done last.

Ideally wait at least 6 hours and better 12-24 hours. But as others have said it doesn't matter much if you're just training for general fitness.

Dedicated cardio days that are not lifting days are how I do it. Cardio on rest days.

Don’t think it really matters for the mostly middle age crowd on here whose primary focus should be avoiding heart attack, diabetes, and hypertension

I like it personally. Probably reduces muscle mass a bit, but I think it improves me as an overall "athlete" if that makes sense.

I’ll keep any long cardio pieces separate.

My lifting sessions are 45-60 minutes. I don’t want to add another 30 at the end.

I've worked with several different bodybuilding coaches and they all recommended fasting cardio first thing in the morning.

If that wasn't feasible, then the next best thing was post workout. Usually a LISS. Like walking at 3mph on a 10-15% incline

My choice if I can work it in.

Two 5K rows with 5 minutes between each.

True. I usually try to alternate between strength training and doing Peloton rides. But sometimes I'll do a quick upper body workout followed by a long ride. I find it hard to believe that riding a stationary bike for 45-60 minutes after working arms and shoulders would have any sort of negative side-effects on the strength workout. Now if I had just done deadlifts and squats, yeah, a case could be made.

This is me here. I walk 5+ miles everyday coupled with gym M-F, with one day legs only but still walk that day. I stay +/- 198-200 now and BP, HR are fine and sleeping is really in the groove. Too old to grow big muscles (72) but feeling good with a few lumps here and there does the trick. Yeeehaaa

The difference is probably negligible. If after workout is best time for you to do cardio, do it then
