So I went and got bloods done thinking I needed TRT (feeling sluggish, fat, and unmotivated even though I workout consistently) and they say my thyroid is the issue and are prescribing me Synthroid. Is this a bullshite diagnosis bc they don’t wanna give me T, or is this synthesis stuff gonna help? Anyone else use it? How do you feel?

Sounds like you are hell bent on getting on T. If you don’t trust your doctor, why go? I take synthroid after having my thyroid gland removed. It keeps you at the level you are supposed to be normally. Therefore, I feel normal.

Not so much that I’m determined to get T, I just don’t know if they’re trying to avoid it because they assume it’s just bro science.

How do you feel on it? Does your metabolism function correctly? I feel like I have no metabolism at all

If your thyroid is not active enough, you will experience the symptoms you described. Getting your thyroid level is a lot safer than messing with testosterone.

Did they test your T level?

Keep monitoring it yearly. You may eventually need it but also may find the synthroid is the ticket. Get active as exercise boosts your T levels. I’m on both but I’m 62.

Seems like I'd try the thyroid med to see if it makes a difference and reassess

More higher-level mainstream docs are moving towards getting T levels to a personal "how do you feel" level and not focusing in too much on the numbers. Now, it'll only take 20 fricking years for the Ochsners of the world to catch up.

Stick with it for 6 month and see. I've had my thyroid tested for the last 6 years and it is surprisingly steady except for one year - two weeks after hurricane Ida frick our house up it was double.. ...it returned back to normal last year though. I thought that was fascinating.

Bingo.

If your thyroid isn’t producing enough hormones then taking Synthroid to help this should make you feel better and help alleviate your symptoms.

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (autoimmune condition most commonly causing low TSH) about 4-5 years ago and got on Levothyroxine (generic Synthroid) and take 250mcg per day. It'll help a lot and you are very unlikely to have any negative side effects. I'll be on synthetic t4 for the rest of my life. Only down side is I have to visit my endo every 6 months with bloodwork to monitor my hormone levels.

My TSH was at -9 and I was having hair fall out, tired all day, dry skin and nails, etc.. I found out about a year later that I also have sleep apnea so I was doubled down on "feeling really shitty" disorders, ready for bed from the moment i wake up every day. Levothyroxine + CPAP got me feeling like a normal person again.

I have never taken it, but I prescribe it all the time.

I know you said that your TSH was in the normal range, but on the low end, I would definitely give it a shot. If you can correct that I bet you start to feel better.

They said my testosterone was in the normal range, but low. My TSH was 10. Do you think I’ll have issues converting it to T3 if I’m on synthroid? I already supplement with zinc, selenium and iodine.

Ok. Then I missread that.

You should not have any issues with converting the T3. Lowering that TSH to a normal range will significantly help you symptoms.

Just make sure to get brand name synthroid. The generics they try to push have fillers and it’s quite possible you won’t get same results. I’m five years post thyroidectomy and this was our finding.

If it makes you feel better about taking synthroid, elite endurance athletes use it as a performance booster

Sounds good to me. Did you lose weight? I’m just tired of being fat and not being able to lose weight. I lift and do 4-6 times and week but I just can’t seem to lose weight. It’s not like I’m eating enough to maintain and pack on this weight, either.
