Yeah that was the name of it. Glad to see it’s just vegan propaganda.

Its kind of a play on words. Ketogenic diet isn't a magic pill at all its a pain in the arse to stay strict to. That said it works like a magic pill to lose weight and reverse type 2 diabetes. Evidence shows that it also is highly effective against autoimmune disorders and cancer.

Ideally, the only sugars you get should be from fruits, and maybe some degree of alcohol.
On occasion. Fruits should be treated like desserts. Fructose is wreaks havoc on your body if you have too much.

Nah. I mean, idk about reducing tumors/cancerous masses and curing autism. But it'll definitely stop you on your way to diabetes and give you a healthier, longer life.

I watched it a few weeks ago... I enjoyed it. Really eye opening. Seems legit, no big money interests pushing that view point.

I do think we have a major problem with sugar/carb intake and this has caused massive health issues.
But what about the sugar cane and corn farmers? They may not get another F-250 this year if this gets out.

No, they will get their F-250s. Big corn is getting its big subsidy via ethanol blended gasoline.

The diet works, you can drop a ton of weight and of course that can help with a lot of health issues but that doesn't make it some kind of magic cure. For example, it isn't curing anyone's diabetes. However, if you are diabetic and strictly following the keto diet then your blood sugar should be very stable as you are avoiding sugars and carbs. But the moment you go back to eating sugar and carbs your blood sugar will spike again. So nothing is cured. It is, for most people, a much healthier way of eating than what they normally eat.

A ketogenic diet will help lose weight and improve blood sugar levels, but all the other stuff has to be looked at with a cynical eye.

I disagree. Most people with bad diabetes have insulin resistance, which causes their blood sugar to spike. On intermittent fasting and keto, the lack of insulin turns your receptors back on to the insulin to a point where there is little to no resistance. So, it means you need much less insulin than before to regulate sugar. So your blood sugar will not spike if you have been doing keto and IF for a couple months imo.

Those poor farmers.

I'm 6'2" and on the 17th of June weighed 273. I still ran every day and ate a sensible diet. I didn't feel great though. I switched to Keto (Really just cut rice and some bread out of my diet, I never really drank soft drinks) and I feel like a completely different person. I feel better than I've felt in years. I'm also down 11 pounds and dropping fast. Not sure where I'm going to land at as far as my weight goes but I am not going off of Keto. I feel so much better it isn't worth it to go back to a "regular" diet.

Do you have any evidence whatsoever that being on the diet for an extended time can help "cure" insulin resistance/diabetes? Or is this, as you stated, just your opinion? I have diabetes and assure you that I could stay on any diet for however long you want and the first time I eat sugar or a lot of carbs my blood sugar is going to go up. But at least we have your opinions on the matter!

This is because diabetes shouldn't be looked at as a disease, but the body's response to such a bad diet.

There are absolutely medical uses for the ketogenic diet. Epilepsy, autism, and even Alzheimer's have shown to improve significantly on a ketogenic diet. It can help with weight loss because it increases satiety and helps people eat less calories overall. Many forms of cancers feed on sugar, so keto diets can help stunt cancer growth.
It's not a miracle cure for all things health-related.

People’s fear of carbs is funny! The problem is grouping things like fruit and potato’s with twinkies and chips.

quote:This is most likely due to the leaky gut problem. Leaky gut is very common in people with ASD. I have two boys with ASD (8 and 10). The 10 year old is severe non-verbal who has a serious nose for sugar. The kid knows when something sugary is in the kitchen and will hunt it down.
They filmed families who stated their autistic children were making 180* shifts after making dietary adjustments.
When he gets more sugar (more than a couple of grams), it's like he's been injected with some freakshow toxic cocktail that turns him into a monster. We try our best to keep his sugar/simple carbs at a minimum. The trickiest part is the fact that he is literally always hungry. He eats more than I do, and I'm not a small guy. During the summer she has to fight him out of the kitchen or he will eat everything. If it wasn't for his undying need to eat so much we would have him on keto or paleo.
I have noticed on days when we have him on lower carbs he tends to be a much happier kid, which leads me to believe his body is feeling better that day.

Not really. I'm pretty much the flexible dieting champion around here and even I acknowledge that for health keto is awesome.
True magic pill though is not keto, it's long 72+ hour salt water fast combined with keto on refeed days until you loose the fat.
Fatasses don't need to eat every day, hell not even every other day. Eat once or twice a week. And before somebody says you loose muscle that away STFU and do some research.
Wanna cure your auto immune, diabetes(to a certain extent even type 1), high cholesterol, high triglycerides, high blood pressure then fricking start fricking fasting with strict keto refeeds. 72 hours minimum every time.
(If you are type 1 start with 12-16 hours max working slowly to eating once a day)
For those that want to know more, go on YouTube and watch snake diet. Or go watch the mcsnake diet where he eats McDonald's once a day druing the week as his only food fasting on the weekend and 24 hours daily. His blood test actually improved.
Meal frequency and strict keto is key to health. If done correctly it is also the fastest, most effecient and safest way to loose body fat while maintaining muscle also.
Most people won't do that though cause they are addcited to food. And that's why I preach flexible dieting, seems to be the only thing people aren't too big of pussies to stick to.
