Did the New Orleans turkey day race pushing the double stroller yesterday. I did the “right” thing and started toward the back as they ask stroller pushers to do. Whew…big mistake. Basically walked the entire first mile, spent the next 3.5 weaving around traffic. If I do it again next year, definitely starting up front. Seems more dangerous to do what I did vs what they ask you to do

Good to know. I considered pushing mine in the stroller to see how many I could catch. If I do it next year I'm definitely cheating my way up a little. A few miles of walking and weaving is not what I'm looking for

It was awful. Though even 3.5 miles into the race I was still dodging walkers. Old farts that just have to be up front…

Yep. I’ll never start at the back or middle again.

I hate you guys sometimes. I went to buy the Megablast and the store had just received a shipment of Vomero Premiums. I couldn't help myself, and left with both.

ETA: It was all I could do to not pick up some Merrill Vapor Gloves for Black Friday.

Slept in this AM. Did my long run around noon. 10 miles, 143 HR, 10 min pace. Finally feel normal after having donated blood on Tuesday.

I couldn't run today in the Vomeros but I'll try tomorrow. Been reading about them though, and they seem like a really good, slow, long run shoe. I'll do a recovery pace and see how they feel. Anyone else have them? They're pretty hard to find in stock, I got lucky when the shipment arrived.

Holy shite. Does that really have a 55mm stack height?

Yes. And the rocker is midfoot. It's a strange sensation. I briefly jogged in them just to see how they felt. Super cushiony

The black volt is the color i bought.

I’ve been a fat slob since the birth of my second daughter in august. Getting back on the saddle Monday. May sign up for a full in the fall of next year with a goal of making one final push for Boston/NY.

I'm gonna be honest. I'm not saying you can't do it, but every year, it's getting ridiculously harder as they decrease the qualifying times. It's crazy now.

If you're serious, get an actual running coach and have them develop a BQ training plan.

Then look close to home for a hot, fast, marathon like the Houston Chevron or Grandma's.

Pedro is just sandbagging, that guy hits Boston qualifiers on his long runs. Don't let him fool you!

Yeah, IIRC, Pedro is a former college runner, current HS CC/track coach, and sub 3 marathoner. Think he’s got an idea of what to do.

Wtf. His message reads like a dude seeking running advice.

Pedro, you sandbagging ole sailor, have you done either of those events yet?

10 and some change this morning, around 35 for the week. I need to really lock in and get back to 40+ every week but the kid's been sick for what feels like months. Constant ear infections and surgery to get tubes, and now a cold. Sleep has been hard to come by in the Ingeniero household.

I decided not to do the Louisiana half so I think I'll opt for a spring of 5ks and 10ks with the Crescent City Classic as the "goal" race

Running Boston in April (through a charity not qualified - I never want anyone to think I’m trying to pass as a qualified runner )

Training Day 1 starts tomorrow.

Ran in the Vomeros tonight. 9 min/mile recovery pace. The stack height is really something, I think it's going to take some time to get used to it. It's a really squishy shoe, you can actively feel the foam compress on every step. Hopefully they work out, I hate buying shoes and not using them.

Controversial take, but you don't owe anyone that explanation. Running for a charity is admirable and takes a ton of work to raise money for. Isn't Boston like $10,000? I'd rather train and qualify over having to raise that kind of money. Plus, you can't just sign up, that shite is competitive for Boston. Congrats! Give that training hell.

Same experience I had with the Altra Torin. I was getting tightness in my left calf with the shoes. Ran in different shoes last two times out without any tightness. Probably donating these. Last two pairs of Altras haven’t worked out.

This happened to me tonight. Both front shin muscles were on fire. I'm gonna keep trying, worst case they become comfortable walking shoes.
