Whatever. Something's better than nothing. It's hard to grow a non-native vegetable plant period, regardless when you start it. The move could've just as easily paid off and you would've had produce a month before the rest of us ha.

I think I'm going to put my tomatoes in their containers tonight and keep them in the house, then put them outside tomorrow morning. Looks like the cold is gone for now and the weather looks great tomorrow. I will probably direct sow some cucumbers this weekend, and transplant zucchini and squash.

I also seem to have successfully overwintered an Anaheim pepper in its container. I lopped it down to about 12" of stem last year, fertilized it, and repotted it. It's sprouted a ton of leaves already and is already trying to flower. Pretty happy about that because it was a major producer last year.

Absolutely

The only reason I put them in the ground that early was because I had to go out of town for work for a few weeks and wasn't going to be around to tend to my seedling. I knew it was a risk.

Forecast is giving upper 70's and lows in the 60's next week.

I'm going to sow beans this weekend for sure. I had planned to hold off on cucumbers for a few more weeks. But I've been seeing plenty of bees (pre cold front). If I continue to see them, I may sow them this weekend as well.

I spent the last few weeks putting in 700 feet of deer fence. After two years of leaving me alone they found my garden and ate Everything. Including citrus, peach, and mulberry trees. Completely wiped out the vegetables.

Tomatoes will probably go in the ground this weekend. Lots of other vegetables to follow as well as a dozen blueberries (will make 42 plants) a couple of peaches, probably 2 satsumas and another orange or 2. Cantaloupes and watermelons when it warms, they did great last year until the deer feasted. Also need to re-establish my strawberries and raspberries; they were doing great until wiped out.

Now I just hope the black bears don't find the blueberries. A family of them was around a couple of years ago but they've not been seen since the Panhandle put in a short bear season.

I put out three tomato plants three weeks ago to get a head start. Put a contraption around them that is a round series or tubes filled with water to heat the soil with ambient heat from the sun. Covered them with two black planters the past couple of nights, and they're hanging on.

The rest of my tomatoes and peppers are still under lights.

Put a fan on my blueberries in an attempt to save the blooms. I'm guessing about 25% survived the freeze. Haven't bothered to check my peach and Apple trees...they most likely got bit.

Growing em from the seed this year. Why, I don't know my wife got the urge to do so. Maters and peppers like last year. Had a mater pop up from last years crop out of no where. Was doing ok until I forgot to cover it from the last freeze. It gone.

Yeah, I thought so too. But nah. Nothing survived.

That’s ok. I’ve actually decided to try a few different types of peppers since all of the others died. I’ll have 4 varieties instead of 2. I did have some spare California Wonder seedlings, so those will go in the ground. I picked up some Cajun Belle, Cayenne, and Bonnie Greens.

Carolina Reapers

I just can’t come up with a reason to grow these. They’d just go to waste.

Me neither, but I love growing peppers and figured what the hell

The shishitos will be fun, and so will the Big Jim’s if they produce.

The other two (SS and CR) are more novelties. I may try to do something with them maybe

No one in my family but me likes hot pepper. I saw habanero at Cleggs and couldn't resist. If anyone has ideas for them let me know.

I bought some cayenne plants. I plan on trying to make hot sauce and seasoning. But that’s about it.

I’m growing ghost peppers this year. My goal is to make an awesome hot pepper jelly. I’ve looked at some recipes online. With a little cream cheese, it probably can be toned down.......right?

For a brief minute I thought it might be a good idea. But the more I think about it, the more I hate it.

Does anyone have any recs for a reliable ph test kit? I know the ag center will do it, and I will probably send in to them, but I would like to also be able to test at home.
Thanks
