It's looking like Bonnie Plants decided not to do poblano peppers this year. None at:
Petrus
Lowe's
Home Depot
Fads and Frames
Walmart
Sutherland's.

you guys really need to find a local nursery. It will cut your initial plant/seed investment alot. You'll probably end up buying other crap, but $4.98 per plant is insane at a big box store.

like anything else you pay for convenience and consistency. Bonnie plants are solid, grown in Alabama from good gene stock. I am going to take a ride out to genes greenhouses in loranger to get some stuff though.

I will say that I’m done sprouting from seed except for okra and wildflowers. A combination of laziness and lack of talent

Yeah half the fun for me is the seed starting process. Maybe I'm old and nerdy but the day the seed catalog comes in the mail is like Christmas... that and the eyeroll I get from the wife when she realizes there's a tray of dirt on top of the refrigerator.

Pretty sure both my wife and housekeeper were quite unhappy with my first go at inside starting. Now, I only start from seed that which I cannot get at the stores. This year that means Jimmy Nardello, mini cucs, Blue Hubbard and beets.

Did you find any poblanos? The Lowe’s and tractor supply here had the exact same plants that Home Depot had

Yes, I went by Sutherland's at lunch and they got a new shipment. Not Bonnie though which makes me wonder if Bonnie just skipped them this year.

All plants are in the ground. Only waiting for some cucs and peppers in starter trays and I'll be done. Planted car grass for the first time. Will be interesting to see if the cat notices it.

Pics to come, but I recently relocated to South of Shreveport. 6 acres. I decided to go much bigger than this year. Outside of the normal herbs, I’m currently in possession of ~200 plants started from seeds including tomatoes (8 varieties), peppers (10 varieties), cucumbers (3 varieties), okra, potatoes (3 varieties), and onions (2 varieties). Next up I’m going to try my hand at a couple of melon plants.

Beans, corn, potatoes, onions, and peas will be direct sown.

I know I’m gonna be in over my head, but I’m looking forward to the challenge.

Potatoes are up and growing.

Onions are starting to bulb.

Strawberries are making. This was our biggest one so far.

Only casualty so far was broccoli starts that got nuked by the high 80s and low 90s we had the last couple of weeks. May try and find some more. The local nursery has 4 packs for $2.50.

I found out there's a borer moth trap. Got a couple off Amazon. So, blue Hubbard decoy plants, these traps, and daily search for the grubs. If I don't produce a squash this season, I do not think it can be done here

I’m still deflated after last year. I don’t even like yellow squash and zucchini so I never plant it anyway but I planted delicata in late summer hoping they’d be gone and they reduced a 20sf thriving grove to jello in a couple of weeks. I got two squash LOL

My parents live in NW ark and they never have a problem with them…

I tolerate them. Doing this because my wife loves them and asks every spring if I can plant some.

Just plant tromboncinos and pick them early.

Just a heads up on those. The pheromone traps for vine borers only attract the male moths. The females will still lay eggs on your plants and avoid the traps.

On the plus side, fewer males to mate with the females. But I hade a trap for a couple of years and caught tons of male moths. Didn't find it made much of a difference on the amount of eggs found on the plants.

Hopefully that didn't rain on your parade.

My blue Hubbards just broke the surface. I planted zucchini about 1 week later. Will monitor them all, but won't care much about eggs/larva on/in the blues. Don't even have a recipe or know what people do with them.
