Ants on water well head

I have a small enclosure over my well head. There is a concrete pad surrounding it with about three inches of space surrounding it.
Weirdly this morning I noticed dead ants in the toilet! After investigation, I found a giant colony of ants on top of the well head. No true sign of a nest anywhere. I’m presently pouring hot water over it then vinegar. They keep coming out of the area.
Since this is drinking water, what is something that I can control these with?

Diatomaceous earth. You can even buy the food grade for a little more money.

Check for any exposed wiring, ants love electrical circuits.

Have an aerator pump for our septic system. Techs said to put used dog flea collars around it to keep ants away.

If ants are getting into your drinking water, you have bigger problems. That implies your drinking water supply is not staying pressurized.

I personally would spray a circle of Bengal spray around it to keep them from coming there (I would not spray anything on the well facility itself.
As the others, I would have to question how ants are getting into your water system. I would personally call someone who drills water wells, as it sounds like you have some well casing problems.
