I’m getting ready to install a TV on my patio. The The TV will be somewhat covered by The edge of my roof and my pergola, but some rain still gets in through the gap.

What Do you use to protect your TV? Do you just throw a cheap zip up cover for it or do you recommend getting a cabinet made that you can open and close?

Buy a cheap tv and cheap nylon cover, and expect no more than 2yrs out of each. Rinse and repeat

I have a waterproof cover that stays over the tv. It has a Velcro front flap that you open up and fold over when you're watching.

I have two TV's hung outside on my patio. They are somewhat covered by the eves of the house but subject to the weather elements.

I've never covered them with anything and have had no trouble for the last 4 years.

Vizeo style televisions purchased at Walmart.

Agreed; I don't know that you want it waterproof. I can't remember what mine was other than less than $30 for a 55 inch? The reason I eventually tossed the TV was because the HDMI port corroded (two dissimilar metals will do that with the humidity being the catalyst.) It took more than five years (Houston.)

Piggybacking on this topic as I’m about to install one too:

Main patio area is about 24’ wide and 12’ deep. The north end is open to the weather. As most of the weather generally speaking comes from west, NW, and southwest, I’m considering mounting it on the west side wall since that part of patio stays considerably drier during most storms.

But in doing so, that would require mounting it high up over a gas grill that’s tied in to gas line there. There’s electric outlets each side, so no issue there.

My question is , does anyone see a problem mounting tv above a grill? The tv would be mounted several feet well above it, but would surely stay drier on that wall of the patio.

Any thoughts or anyone with personal experience?

Edit: ground to ceiling is about 11 ft high

I would be hesitant to install there. My gas grill is near the eaves of the house. There is a soffit vent above it. That vent and any high points in the texture of the nearby wood collect black gunk from the grill. There is also a lot of heat wafting up from the grill.

I have a cheap cover that is secured with velcro. I leave it uncovered until predicted rain, then cover it up. TCL 55" has been going strong since 2019.
