Weed eater trimmer heads wear

Just wondering if anyone has found a solution to repairing the trimmer head brass bushing that the string goes through.
Every weed eater I have owned, the brass bushing wears out after a year of so of use and starts cutting the string ever few minutes.
Has anyone ever found where a replacement bushing can be bought. Yea, I know replacement heads are sold, but a cheep bushing would fix this problem.

For a normal homeowner, I’ve done a fair amount of weedeating, and I’ve never had this problem.
What kind of trimmer, head, and string are you using?

What he said…
Although, depending what model head you have. You can buy replacement “guides” or just change the head out to an Echo Speed Feed 450. Takes less than 5min.

Really? Been using my stihl for 15+ years same head and have cleared some major shite. Are you slamming it on the ground to get more string out? Dragging it instead of holding?

Same. Never had this issue

Yeah makes no sense. I've never had this problem and for it to be happening every year I just don't know.

I have not worn out a bushing/eyelet, but I did lose a couple on a Stihl trimmer head. Found replacements on E-Bay.

I actually had this problem once. The metal opening became a little jagged. I bent it “down” with some needle nose pliers. And I rubbed and hand grinded it down to smooth the edge.
I actually still have that weedeater with no issues.

I ain’t slamming shite, guess you meant the OP. Lol
But even slamming it wouldn’t wear the guides/eyelets out. I think not moving the string thru enough actually does.

The old gas trimmers I had, I mostly used plain round string and that line would damage [cut] into the brass eyelet.
The battery Stihl that I have now, I am using a twisted style string. This string cuts heavy stuff good in my ditch. But after 2 summers, I had to buy a replacement head because the brass eyelet was badly worn and the string would break every few minutes.
Also, I use the recommended string size for the weed eater. I do not use a larger size string.
I do "bump" the head to advance the string, but I do not hit the grass hard doing this. If after a couple of bumps and no string advance I stop and turn the head by hand to get more string out.
For those that say they do not have this problem ---- what string are you using.

Must be the string you are using, might have metal or glass powder in it to make it more abrasion resistant. I use plain round Stihl .095 string, tried so many others but this stuff works the best that I've found for grass and heavy weeds without jamming.

On my Stihl the eyelets are replaceable.

I did search some, but only found trimmer head for about
$32.
I will look some more. Maybe you can tell me where you bought the replacements. I have a dealer not too far away, and I will check with them.
I have a Stihl FAS 57 trimmer. I see lots eyelets on Amazon and other sites, but none are shown for the FAS 57 model that I bought 2 years ago. I guess I will have to call Stihl to see if they can tell me which eyelet I need.

In the manual that came with my trimmer there is a parts breakdown. Found the number for the eyelets and searched for them. Most of the time I get them off ebay in a bag of 10. I run .105 line in this trimmer so it eats up eyelets. This trimmer is also a comerical gas trimmer, I’m not sure what the head looks like on the Stihl battery trimmers. I have a Dewalt battery trimmer also that the eyelets are not replaceable but the plastic that the head is made out of is so thin after a year it’s usually torn up so I just get a new head for it.

The owner manual does not show any diagram or parts list. I searched last night for this information, but did not find it.
I have not made phone calls yet. Some sellers list the part number of eyelets that they sell and they don't list the model number of the trimmers these eyelets fit.
