some say he did, some say he didn't. either way murray is a very good qb, zach is still unproven.

Just wanting to pop in here and offer the alternative view. Right now I think UGA and LSU are indeed the two best otions, however:
True, but Patterson would start next to Malcolm mitchell. You don't keep that guy off the field
Plus, with brandon boykin leaving, UGA has already told him that both return spots are his for the taking. LSU of course still has TM7 to fill at least one of those roles
Then there's:
- UGA is much closer to Patterson's home and mother in SC
- As mentioned, LSU doesn't have a WR coach
- UGA has been after him longer
False

UGA has everyone returning at WR.

It was reported when Mett had his misdemeanor issues that he was the projected starter for UGA. Murray took the starting spot over when Mett was booted off

Richt also emphasized, despite Mettenberger's strong effort in the spring game earlier this month, that Murray had the strongest spring and would have entered the fall as the starter regardless of Mettenberger's status

ETA: And don't get me wrong here, Mett is still a really good QB and I expect him to at the very least be serviceable for LSU

That was never reported. Our fan base just repeated enough that they started believing it.
I have no idea why it even matters. The guy is obviously an improvement over what we've had. Just be happy and leave it at that.

Can this thread stay on topic and not get derailed with this Murray vs. Mett debate.

Honestly that's called damage control. You don't tell your fanbase or anyone else you just tossed the projected starting QB off the team. You say the backup had a more consistent spring and was going to be the starter anyway.
Richt in this instance would be the most unreliable source, but you have a link so it is possible you are right. I just don't think Richt would've ever come out and said Mett had a better spring and was going to be our starter, but he got in some minor trouble and we decided to go with our second best option. At least history of listening to cfb coaches deceive the media and fans would make me think there was no other repsonse that would come from his mouth.
With regard to Patterson, he would have the same opportunities at UGA and LSU. The difference is he would be the top receiver here where as he would #2 behind Mitchell at UGA. Both teams have good QBs, both are poised to meet each other in Atlanta again next year. I think LSU has a shot and hopefully Mett and CLM sold him on LSU.

According to our people and others UGA isn't in his final 3. Who knows really but that is what is being reported. We'll all just have to wait and see who he chooses.

I've seen two LSU sites mention his final 3. One had Georgia, one didn't.

That would be huge. I always felt they were our biggest threat. Now to get rid of Auburn.

I would be completely flabbergasted if UGA wasn't at least a finalist. Would be surprised if we didn't get him.

Is anyone on the radar for wr coach to replace gonzo?
Its a well kept secret but Kris Cinkovich will be joining the LSU coaching staff after NSD. DGB is a silent commit and when he commits CLM will fire off a text to Petrino with four letters on it.... (read my lips)
OK, I'm just kidding
Posted on 1/22/12 at 7:13 pm to GeauxWolverines
The reason why he hasn't committed yet is probably waiting to see who LSU gets as a position coach.

Both can be true, it isn't an either/or deal.

I know you're joking and we're not hiring that guy but in regards to DGB, I hear Arky is going to be very upset on signing day. I know they've heard some rumors but most don't believe any of it. I'm hearing very strongly from good people that he will not be at Arkansas. Don't know it's just interesting.
