Wow. Never thought the day would come when going from college to the NFL would be a pay cut for so many players. Crazy days

If memory still works, CLK brought in 30 players thru the portal his last recruiting class. How many were considered elite vs how many were developed into SEC-level starters? Too many here seem to be ignoring just how elite CLK & his staff really are.

This board won’t like this, but you’re correct. Lane did well at OM, but what Cignetti did and is doing is generational.

Lane isn’t doing anything Cignetti did because the national media won’t let him. The national media didn’t cry for JMU when Cignetti raided every good player they had instantly creating a veteran team at Indiana. Mark Cuban then comes in and donated 50 million to the athletic department at Indiana. Cignetti went and got a stud transfer QB and other studs with experience to add to an already much older and experienced team. That was year one. This year’s team is a very old veteran team that has played many years together. This was lightning in a bottle for him. Not happening again when they all leave.

This won’t and can’t be duplicated, especially by Lane as nobody will allow it. You don’t see Delly and crew crying over other teams getting raided by former coaches…. JMU, Iowa State, North Texas and on and on have had entire rosters gutted. Lane has one so far. The fake outrage by the media is fricking ridiculous. Lane will be successful the way he always has, but with the resources he needs now. He will outwork others. Will use his innate abilities for talent evaluation to always have a talent laden roster.

As per Blake Ruffino. Said LSU isn’t paying that, but thinks Miami will. Staff seems to think with what they have, what they brought in and the coaches to develop that they don’t need to overpay for him.

Good, that's what my impression is as well. That's a lot of money to spend on someone who is likely only going to slightly move the needle in the unit's production. I'd rather spend on two really solid OLs and an elite CB.

Recently, a larger offer was given towards Wilson and LSU is not going higher. Expect the staff to focus on spending the money on Offensive Lineman in the coming days.

Kiffin took over Ole Miss at a different time and against a a different league. First year was the Covid year and then NIL was a new thing and uncharted waters for everyone with no real guidance.

Now it is different with free transfers, revenue sharing and NIL. Not to mention roster size increase.

If I am not mistaken the BIG Ten allowed the full 105 person rosters while the SEC stayed capped at 85 until next season.

That makes a difference in depth, which matters late in the season and post season. Cig got a lot of advantages that others didn’t just a few years ago. He’s still an amazing coach and doing something absurd, but ignoring how things have changed just in the last 5 or 6 years is silly.

Mizzou is the best place for him if he doesn't want to come to the bayou.

Lane isn’t Cig or he’d have done what Cig is currently doing with even better resources at Ole Miss than Indiana. if Cig wins monday night he’s probably generational.

How long have you and “Cig” been buddies? Lord, make it stop.
