Schools should put release clauses in contracts like they do in soccer. You want a player, pay up and you can have him. Win win

Transfer fees might actually make sense in the current version of College Football At least then, smaller programs would get paid to be repeatedly stepped on.

Maybe the reported $$$ is so high because it includes some to pay whatever penalty is in his contract.

If Washington takes legal action, it will most likely be in the form of monetary compensation for the school and perhaps some kind of penalty for LSU.

Yeah, EVERY inside said it was Leavitt, then out of the blue comes Williams' news.

I know this sounds crazy, but I'm starting to believe the whole country is trying to screw us into not getting a QB for next year, by playing these games.

And if we pay 7 mill for him, where will the money be for a WHOLE new OL?

Terrible for recruiting and no school wants to be the guinea pig in these types of cases.

True. But I bet every school secretly wants them to go through with the lawsuit and win.

The no contact is interesting. Means his side is doing the contacting.

This whole damn football season (from winning the Clemson game, firing BK a few games later, getting Lane after playing chess with Ole Miss, and now the portal games) has been crazy.

If this LSU football season is not a Netflix special, I don't know what is.

Since when have any of these been “contracts” I thought that was the entire problem with NIL.

Isn’t this a “we pay you x amount and you play for us” why are all these dudes claiming he signed some type of legally binding contract. If that is the case send the money back to Washington and come on down to red stick the water is warm.

Good luck with that lol. Why would you want a kid that doesn’t want to be there?

Who said anything about that? Prevent him from playing CFB ever again.

It’s time to enforce contracts in this sport.

The faster all of this craziness spirals out of control, the quicker it will finally be dealt with and sanity will prevail.

I think the LSU offer will include any $$ he is responsible for. How could there be a penalty on LSU? LSU didn't sign a contract with Washington. If he is in the portal; he is fair game.

What would they do if he just dropped out? At most sue for any advances paid.

This is a Rev Share contract, not a 3rd party NIL deal. This isn’t him backing out of a contract with Gordon McKernan, it’s him backing out of a contract with the school.
