If we had nutted up for Underwood last year, BK might still have his job.

BK would have wasted him and then we’d lose him this year.

If getting Underwood meant keeping BK, then politely frick that.

I truly believe our money backers (and board members) weren’t that sold on BK’s future — thus not willing to spend so much on one kid, when they knew, much, much, much more was needed for this team.

THATS how you get buy in. I promise you little things like tweeting out pictures of schools like west ouachita Ruston the Nola schools etc that they have already done make people around the state feel part of the program.
Seems like he’s excited to be here & not just because it was going to look good on his resume

It helped the pimple that was BK come to a head sooner than later.
He was already a boil.

It is not weird. It was stupid to offer some hs kid that. He threw 11 TDs and 9 ints this year.

Reports were he got more than 4 mil. HS players are too unproven even as a 5 star.
For the most part I think schools are going to shift away from this model of roster building. You can’t afford to allocate that much money on potential.

BK pissed off the big donor's
They are now 100% behind Layne.

Ray Charles could see every Brian Kelly mistake......and clearly.

Much different paying $4M for a true freshman than a redshirt junior former heisman candidate that’s a certified baller

There was no revenue share last year. This year everything is completely different.

it amazes me how people follow this stuff and don't understand the head coaches role when it comes to the business and networking part of the machine.

The premise of getting outbid is false at the start. BK made it clear, even stating it clearly himself, that he was not interested in being in a bidding war for any player. Either a player wanted to be here or he didn't.

I think we thought we could get away with not getting him. But it became apparent that we’re gonna have to break the bank to compete. So it woke up a lot of people.
Actually what lit the fire under people to donate was when we were outbid and he chose Michigan over LSU. People were p1ssed that LSU went all in on the kid and we were still outbid.

We have the 3rd most valuable NIL Program in the NATION behind Texas and Ohio State but Woodward insisted on 'spreading the wealth' around far too much
Glad Woodward is gone
