Retting is the rant's last hope that Miles doesn't know shite about QB's.
Considering all have been subpar, including Miles' favorites, wouldn't he be Miles' last hope?

For those interested, a couple links out of NJ on Rettig & the game.

Some folks are probably hoping that Retting proves that there is a glimmer of hope that Miles didn't make another mistake in offering him a scholarship.
I hope that he has success even though it didn't work out here.

That's another way to look at it, and if he fails too I think it definitely says something about recent talent evaluation. You still have to think Jennings has proven himself to be the best of the options we had so far. And Harris is getting closer to becoming THE guy.

I also wish Rettig success. He did nothing wrong. He needed time to adjust to a pro style system, and we didn't have the time to wait. I hope he has a good career.

Well it's two fold. One, is that Miles is a terrible evaluator of QB taldnt, and two, QB development between the years of Fisher and Cam, was non existent. Sure, we had an unlucky amount of transfers and guys deciding not to show up after committing (Zac Lee, guy from Indiana), but it's painting the real picture that Miles is just bad at the QB spot.
I am usually a Miles supporter on most things, and don't care if I get downvoted, the guy just stinks at QB. Call it unlucky, poor evaluator, bad developer, he's just bad at it.
However, I believe Cam has been, and will continue to do a good job of it. While he doesn't have THE soul determination of who we go after, he has major influence and a better eye for QBs than Crowton, Stud, and Miles had.

You forgot Chris Garrett. Miles pulled his scholarship, he went somewhere (MS State?), failed there, and finished at Northwestern St.

Other than this kid from Shreveport, thats going to Ole Miss when did LSU miss out on a 4* star or more La QB?
Miles had the forsight to see his state wasnt going to produce QB's like they used to 5-6 years ago and won the Mett sweepstakes in Kansas. He's been to Los Angeles, Indiana, Georgia, Alabama etc. He is trying to find a good a QB for his amazing teams but its not like they grow on trees. Some of the NFL teams havent found a decent QB in 2 decades.
He brought in CAm Cameron to help with this as well. When your state doesnt provide any QB's anymore and u are a run first, play defense type of team, it will always be a tough sale.
No question, its fair to criticize him on QB recruiting but there is no easy solution. If u want to bitch provide a solution. Like go get a QB guru and get rid of Studwara etc.
There arent many 5* QB's that will leave state and not be the focal point of the offense. Would u?
We get angry, if a La. CB goes out of state around here.
If anything, we should be giving the QB coach a little trouble here. He gets a pass because its cool to bitch about the best head coach LSU has ever had. Miles has done almost everything that we wanted him to do to get a good QB to Baton Rouge.
We had terrible QB play last yr and we land a 3 star left hander in our recruiting efforts?
We have poor QB play and refuse to throw the ball to a stable of talented TE's? Instead we continue to call 5 and 7 step drops with inexperienced WR's and QB's.
We run off three other QB's and find ourselves with only 2 scholarship QB's for the entire season last year. A RS soph and a true freshman.
Im still have hope in Cameron, but its surprising to me why no one ever says a negative thing about him. The man is being paid top dollar and other than getting "credit" for Mett's Sr season, what has he done.

There's a great deal of logical thinking in your post. It probably won't go over well.

I know the purple and gold shades crew are happy with what we have but the fact is 2nd, 3rd or 30th is still a looser. Besides the fact our offense has been painful as frick to watch. Takes me back to a special place, middle school

It's because he has done a fabulous job since he's been here. Unfortunately too many fans won't see the progress until the finishing touches are put on.
Last year all we had was a moderately talented second year guy and a very talented first year guy. This year we'll have a moderately talented third year guy, a very talented second year guy, and a very talented first year guy (early reports). In 2016 we'll have a fourth year AJ, a 3rd year BH, a second year Justin McMillan, and a first year Felipe Franks.
The problem has been fixed. Be patient grasshopper.

you've basically given up on 2015 and are trying to sell us to wait another year while our QB play has been very bad after jimbo's QBs left
i hope you realize how the abject failure at QB recruiting and development makes people leery to hear "we just need to wait ANOTHER year"

Only thing Ive seen that is fabulous from him is his paycheck. I am patient but still wonder how he gets a complete free pass for the QB situation.
Stay cool my little Pea rod.
