If he wants to win a championship, he has a 250% better chance to do that LSU rather than Oregon
Oregon plays in the Big Ten (which may end up winning the title tomorrow), and was just in the CFP and is returning their star QB and almost all of their starters. They lost their fine safety and may have even upgraded with Koi Perich. If they are not preseason #1 overall, they'll likely be in the Top 3.
Whereas, Seaton will have to imagine the potential Kiffin has for the portal puzzle pieces. If he does see the vision, he very well could be on a championship contender (like I think the Tigers could be). LSU would be a contender projection. Oregon likely is a proven contender in Seaton's eyes.
But I think it could come down to playing time. LSU needs him. Oregon wants him, but has solid returning tackles, so he'd be a luxury buy.

Should we get the portal king a crown?

To be fair, money has always talked, even in 2003. It just used to whisper.

majority of our kids were from Louisiana in 2003. They wanted to come here since they were kids. Money wasn't an option

They had a ton of wholes to fill, and they did a good job. This spreads the money thin and you also have to move on kids quickly and be less judicious on who you sign. You only have so much time.
If you write the names out, about 60% of these guys will be backups. It lacks some star power, but again, it was always going to be that way when you have to fill 40 roster spots. They nailed the QB position which is the catalyst for this whole thing, so you love to see that. I think Lane really nailed the skill guys too, for what he looks like in his WR and RBs.

Will this be considered the greatest portal class of all time?
According to the experts over at 247 this 2026 class is currently the best LSU portal class of all time, currently sitting at 74.15 points. This slightly outranks LSU previous high mark of LSU 74.08 in 2023.
The highest ranked portal class of all time according to 247 was USC in 2022 with 96.08 points. That's probably going to stand for a very long time.
This LSU class currently sits at 6th all time according to 247 (starting in 2022).
If we land Seaton we easily jump to 4th all time.

Especially getting Caleb, that was probably 10 points alone. And that was a package deal to USC along with the head coach, so a bit of an asterisk on that score.

What if we add Seaton AND Uma?

Wanting the best chance of winning a championship is a secondary concern to getting paid for these kids. This isn’t 2003 anymore - money talks
It varies depending on the person. If the money is close or equal, many kids will start to weigh other priorities like brand recognition and how that will help them, competitiveness, coaching and relationships. etc.
