Its not hard to understand. Riley and USC (same as Michigan) are "desperate" for good news in the program. The money is PR to keep fans in the game. If he turns out to be legit, even better.

I don’t think the lack of game experience will be that big of a deal for Stewart, as much as the insanity that caused his lack of experience. Literally every season of his career had some sort of eligibility issue due to his parents/handlers meddling with his career to set him up. Whoever signs the kid is going to have to deal with the people around him and fight to keep him for 3 years. It’s exactly the type of situation you don’t want to be in.

I see what you are saying and it seems like a lot of people feel the same way you do, but can you honestly say when you were 17-18 years old if someone offered you millions of dollars to leave Louisiana and go play football in another state you’d say no

This kid better pan out.

I feel like people don't realize that camps are infinitely more important to coaches than high school football games.

What’s crazy to me is only having 1 year of experience and choosing money right now over being coached by possibly the best d-line coach in all of football who can help you develop. Anyone with a brain will understand that this will create a bigger pay day in the future. Some of these parents need to be investigated.

You're probably right. It does seem desperate by USC. It's not like Jahkeem will likely be the next Nick Bosa on day one either. 2 mil for a guy who will need time to physically develop is imo reckless.

I don't understand it either. But for all the people that say that LSU doesn't try to buy players, we apparently offered him almost as much as we were offering Bryce Underwood.

Don't forget that Frank helped him reclassify. If he ends up at USC, that would be a huge slap in the face money or not.

How is it crazy to take guaranteed money now? There is no guarantee he will make more money in the future.

This is where I’m at. I have major concerns about a lineman coming in young and limited playing time.
At the same time with his measurables you have to feel like
Very low floor very high ceiling and glad it’s not my money that would pay.

I think most Tiger fans would happily lose him for two more physically ready Junior transfers. Seeing that CFB is now completely about next year and little else.
So many of these top classes will transfer out. Thinking further down the road than next year is probably not the best use of our time.
IMO LSU is going to have 20-22 high school commits in this class that are next year and the future contributors.
I think the 80-20 rule applies here. 80% from high school will from the basis of your roster each year. 20% will be transfer portal gains or casualties. 20 from each class will from a good roster basis, 2 or three will be transfer portal difference makers and 2 or 3 will be casualties (not getting playing time, injury, team rules, etc.).

Not trying to sound like sour grapes, since it seems like hes trending elsewhere... But if we are really trying to go all in next year with Nuss coming back and looking to really spend in the portal. Then it makes absolutely no sense to me to spend a ton of money on a 17 year old DT. It's already a hard position to play early, but someone that reclassified and has had almost no experience playing HS football will need time to develop.
Would love to have him on board in a vacuum, but assuming he is demanding a ton of money then I think we are probably better off spending that money elsewhere. If it sures up guys like Dom McKinley who is probably getting tampered right not and will probably be looking for more money this offseason. If it goes towards keeping CJ Daniels or Caden Durham. If it can go towards an immediate starter on the O-Line or at safety. That would make way more sense to me.

USC has a very good defensive coaching staff.

This is an overall comment about recruits as I don't know Jahkeem's family or their financial situation, but picture the average lower income family that has never even seen a million bucks, much less had it. You wave 7 figures in front of people who have struggled to pay their electricity bill every month, I get why that would be hard to turn down.
Problem is, most people who have never had money also don't have the skills necessary to manage it which goes to your point. In theory you get that money now and you're not quite set for life but you have a big boost. What happens though if you piss away that NIL money and you don't end up getting developed and making the league? I foresee a lot of sad stories in the future about kid's families pissing away their NIL and the league not working out.

Oh it’s no doubt a huge gamble, but I’ll be honest if I ever have a kid that’s good enough to play college ball at LSU and LSU offers him a million and an out of state school offers him 2 million then guess what we packing our shite and moving lol. Unfortunately that’s just the way it is now.

The money is similar at all the schools.
Posted on 12/4/24 at 9:11 am to GeauxTigers_11
Move on!!! He ain’t coming not with the money!!
Posted on 12/4/24 at 9:19 am to Toss_Dive
He wouldn’t be coming to LSU for free lol and unless his last name is Underwood, it’s very unlikely that any NIL funds would set him up for life.
