I agree. Simpson seems to have really good tools, but hasn't faced elite pitching. Yorke and Caraway add some needed power.

Who is our best defensive option at 2nd with all of these additions?

That is the mystery. Right now it is roster at 34 by 12/1. Being able to RS up to 5 would be nice.

Don't think anyone has a clue. I'd imagine Reaves, Dardar, and Simpson will rotate 3B and 2B a lot in the fall with Caraway working at 1B and 3B.

Yea, but if he hits he will need to play somewhere. Options at this point are 1B/3B/DH.

Really can't narrow down 1B/2B/3B/DH at this point. Will have multiple guys competing at all those positions.

It was mentioned before, but if Beck returns (I hope he does), that's just another LH bat.

JMO, I don't think Caraway would be coming to LSU if he wasn't confident he'd win the every day 3B spot. I think he'll be that guy and you're gonna have a number of guys fighting for 2B/1B/DH.

Very likely he will be given the first shot it at. When you go down the list of who can play where it gets to be very confusing.

1B: Yorke, Pearson, Yamin, Dardar, Caraway
2B: Dardar, Reaves, Simpson
3B: Caraway, Simpson, Reaves, Pearson, Dardar

That is not looking at any freshmen either. Might be even more fun this fall and spring than last fall and spring to see the competitions for the positions happen.

I wouldn't sleep on Yamin yet either. I want to see what he looks like in the fall. Was taking plenty of live ABs in practice against some of our guys that needed the work during the weeks. Curious to see if that might help slow the game down for him.

You have RH and LH options at several positions in the infield. You get a DH, too, and maybe one could be a RH option in the OF if Brown proves that he really struggles against LHP.

Crowded but good competition with all seemingly good character guys. That's healthy.

I also wonder if Simpson is entertaining UDFA offers.

With Noot only being a SO I can’t imagine he is entertaining UDFA offers.
