Lawton Littleton is the States #1 ranked player by PBR and the top lefty in the state. Has hit 93 on the stalked gun a couple times this summer. Not sure where he ends up, I know Tenn and Ole Miss have been to watch him a lot but is a big name to look for as he SEC player for sure. Prolly PO only in college and has a ton of room to grow at almost 6'3 165
at area code he had a stat line of 3.0 IP, 2H, 1BB, 5K- had the best curve ball of any pitcher there according to reports.

I read that yesterday and enjoyed it.
There are generally two tracks for development, at the individual, team, and org level in the pros.
Depending on how much time you have with the player you might be able to do both, improve the weaknesses and strengthen the strengths. With less than one year with Eyanson, they chose to strengthen his strengths.
And I still think (and they probably do too), that even with that there is still a lot of developmental meat on the bone. Because of his athleticism, his ceiling is pretty high. His floor is also pretty high. I was wishing the Cardinals would have gotten him, he was a couple picks away from them when the Red Sox drafted him. Because I think he's a mid rotation starter.
agreed has more in the tank as far as development. Not having the time to attack the weaknesses made sure of that. He is big time talent who....like you said...has mid reliever or a rotational starter written all over him.

Christian Little was promoted to High A today. He's had some time out this season with injury, but he's been throwing well since he came back. They're still giving him somewhat of a starters workload. I don't know if that's his long term future, but it's a great developmental track for the lower minors.

Wasn't Christian Little relatively young when he started his college baseball carreer? Maybe a perfect example of a late bloomer

He both reclassified up a year and graduated early. So he was at Vandy in what would have been the spring of his junior year. He only just turned 22.
So while he has a lot of high level baseball under his belt, 4 years in the SEC and additional time in the minors, he's still very young. He was young compared to the league in Low A, I assume he will be even younger relative to the league in High A.

Former commit Sammy Kane has committed to Oregon.

I happened to go to the LSU NILMax event tonight. I got to meet Jay and talked with a few other people. Sounds like baseball is struggling a little bit to keep up with NIL when compared to some other schools in the SEC. They won't get much revenue sharing through LSU.

It makes sense. People keep wanting to turn a blind eye to it but it's obvious that we heavily increased our spending in football and basketball this past year. That money had to come from somewhere. I understand that maybe we have guys cutting bigger checks, but there's also a lot of people that don't like paying for McMahon and Kelly. And then the announcement that mens/women's basketball was getting 20% and leaving baseball in the group of "everyone else" sharing 5%. I'm pretty disappointed in that

He's alluded to this before speaking to the Coaches Committee. Several schools are spending a decent bit more than we are. Has anyone heard if we are actually even funding a full 34 schollys for baseball?

Unfortunately nobody can spend what Texas and Texas A&M spend in any sport so you almost have to exclude those two. We should be 3rd though-- or atleast tied for 3rd.

I get basketball ultimately makes more than baseball, but it just seems weird we put so much into basketball compared to baseball when right now hardly anyone even cares about the team under the current coach and how unsuccessful he's been here.
To win a second title in 4 years like Jay has and kind of get thrown on the backburner for investment is a bit of a slap in the face meanwhile throwing probably well into 7 figures to try and put together maybe a NIT or bubble team for basketball for a coach who has done nothing but lose here.

Especially when you're probably going to have to be paying a buyout for said coach in the next year or two and hiring a new one. And honestly I love Mulkey, but no way womens hoops should be getting the revenue share they do IMO.

I can only assume it's because of the upside basketball can offer from a revenue standpoint if we actually were any good. But you have to think some of it may just be Woodward trying to save face and not look like he failed our basketball program. Some of it may be weighing the opportunity cost of having to buyout McMahon if we don't start winning anyway. What really irks me though is women's basketball still being ahead of baseball

Two things need to happen soon:
Pay Jay Johnson
Figure it out before Texas A&M baseball job opens because you can bet their first call will be to Jay Johnson

A lot of things might happen. Jay Johnson leaving LSU for Texas am is not one of them.

huh? he just got a new contract 2 years ago and is the 6th highest paid even with the new coaches like O'Connor passing him up
do you really think we wouldnt match anything they offered

Jay couldn't care less about his salary. But you better make sure he has the resources he thinks he needs to be competitive at the highest level.

i mean
#1 he cares, every coach cares and everyone that works for a living wants to maximize their salary. Not the only thing that matter certainly, but he absolutely cares
#2 he also has an ego like all coaches, they want to be #1 on every list, including pay

He just needs more outside investment for NIL for his players. My company will be doing a few deals with some baseball players, but it’s a drop in the bucket compared to what he needs.

That was not my point at all. Him being the 3rd or 4th highest paid coach wouldn't make him consider seriously looking at another job. Those other things would.
