Project should we be worried LSU baseball wise with all this money stuff going to the other sports

The things to worry about would be donor fatigue and having some baseball donors split their money off to other sports. Neither of those things are going to be something we hear about.

But I'd rather we focus on getting some of the freshmen to campus rather than shopping in the portal.

Agreed. I think we have a much better chance at getting some of the borderline HS guys to forgo the draft than we do going after any high level portal guys. Plus you’ll have them for multiple years.

Which position players in the 26 class will make an impact from day 1 should they make it to campus?

Would harden, patrick, and ruckert have a role next year?

Interesting. I know we're going after a late pop up kid in Mississippi that's currently committed to Pearl River. Did McLeod get injured?

He responded to every fan that replied to him with an emoji of their mascot.

But at this point in the calendar, this wouldn't have been his decision. He was signed and has to be released.

Pushed out?

Odd time to decommit, and I don't think (could be wrong) that Jay has every had a true decommit this late in the game.

Probably won't make as many headlines as Diego Pavia did, but the NCAA won a case today where the guy suing tried to argue that his JUCO seasons shouldn't count toward his NCAA eligibility.

Federal Court or State Court? I'm in a hotel with nothing to do and would love to browse PACER and read filings lol.

I know I've said before I'd prefer to continue to build through HS and JUCO recruiting rather than relying on the portal. But I know we're never going to fully abandon the portal. Especially for pitching and also with an eye on Louisiana guys.

Southern Miss has a couple big time Louisiana guys pitching a lot of innings for them, but I don't see them leaving. Arkansas State has a guy from Thibodaux doing well for them, could be an option down the road.

But Brody Trosclair at Northwestern State, from Thibodaux as well, is pitching really well in the weekend rotation for what's starting to look like one of the best teams in the Southland. He's a freshman lefty and was just put at number 32 on Baseball America's top 2028 college draft prospects. He's one to keep an eye on from a performance standpoint.

What about any position players who are Louisiana natives?

There is a sophomore catcher at ULM that could be a candidate down the road if a need arises, but beyond that I haven't dug in too hard. The starting SS at ULL is a freshman from Slidell, but I look at ULL and Southern Miss in a similar light. If guys go there out of high school, we likely aren't going to be a transfer destination for them.

Also, on the position player side, there are just so many more upperclassmen bouncebacks from P4 schools, JUCO transfers, etc. There just aren't a lot of underclassmen getting a lot of playing time at smaller schools anymore.

I do like seeing how guys at LSUE, Delgado, Jones, Pearl River, and a few of the Texas JUCOs do. There are Louisiana guys all over out of state JUCOs in Texas, Arkansas (a growing JUCO system), Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.

With McLeod, if he was a signee can Tenn swoop in like that to get him or would LSU have to release him from signed letter?

I can't tell you what he's thinking as a 20 year old, but when Camden Sunstrom was 12, he was a huge LSU fan and was frequently at the box.

Source - I coached him when he was 12
