Trying to figure out if Jay was more irritated with the scores or the athletes (or both). It wasn’t their best, but still not bad overall. It seemed to be a down week for everyone. Glad we have some depth to deal with maybe some fatigue/injuries.

Definitely the time of year where fatigue sets in, especially for 3 eventers and aa’s. Wish we could have rested chio on an event or 2. Specifically floor.

Hopefully they will rest Chio (and whoever else needs it) for next week. I think we go against Auburn so we should win the meet easily.

She can easily rest on bars and floor

Can’t afford to rest her on vault unfortunately

I am hoping the team is on with great focus and sticks this coming Friday at the PMAC. They need a strong score with just two home meets left after Friday before the SEC Championship and post season. There are 4/5 teams in the SEC that are competing to be in the top four. It has been fruit basket turnover so far. The team needs to live up to the talent and potential they have as competitors to set some distance in scores from other teams. We all know this team is capable.

Oklahoma just got their 3rd 198+ today and that's after getting one on Friday night also. The Sooners have a strategy that no one else has figured out. She uses the same team lineups almost every meet. These girls do not show fatigue. What's the secret???

I think that they definitely get over scored A LOT!! But also, KJ may put the recruits through extensive mental and physical tests while recruiting. She may know how to sense weakness in the recruits and filter those kids out. I don’t know, but I’m actually kind of scared of her lol!

She has to have some type of mental exercise program that keeps the team focused and competitively on target. Everyone complains about their "robot effect" in routines but one can't deny the judges reward them and they do win championships.

ETA:

The below sheds some light on the Kindler strategy in gymnastics.

OU is ridiculously good

NCAA

I’m not sure what they do but it needs to be studied and maybe a documentary made about KJ. They had a strong freshman class coming in but so did other schools. However the OU squad looks much stronger. I feel like vault is the determining factor on which team wins the championship and currently OU has the strongest vault team. They are able to somehow minimize steps on landing and therefore have fewer deductions. There’s also something to be said about the way they attack beam. Like Addison looks soo locked in mentally when she’s on the beam it’s something to behold. I’m not a big OU fan but I’m loving them so far this season

The graphic that ESPN put up this weekend where KJ explained how she does her lineups? I thought it was intriguing also.

Gymnast #1 - experienced/stable athlete
Gymnast #2 - experienced/stable athlete
Gymnast #3 - youth/building block, someone who needs experience or confidence
Gymnast #4 - stabilizer/someone with the ability to respond in case something goes wrong earlier in the lineup, get the team back on track
Gymnast #5 - flexible/adjustable position
Gymnast #6 - strong, high scoring finisher

She makes sure each athlete has the "win" mentality. The practice sessions are serious and intense.

It is plain to see that Kindler's formula for success continues to work for OK gymnastics.

Great meet for the Tigers. If LSU can work on sticking their routines, I believe they can give OK a run for the win next week. Sticking routines is standard at OK. They stick with deep squats and the judges award them.

Meh, I’d rather not win next weekend. Save it for postseason. The chance you beat Okla 3 times in a season… slim. Would love a great away score!

Personally I would love a win, but value the road score more heavily than a victory (though beating them on the road would keep us in the running for the regular season title once again)

haven't got to watch a meet live all season. Finally finished up the Auburn meet last night.

Man that was one of the better performances I've ever seen form an LSU team. Monster score and I really don't think we got much of a home field judging boost like many nights. Those were some very legit scores all the way through.

This team is loaded. Going into the season I was thinking they were maybe a year away but this team can definitely win the title.

I didn't think there'd ever be an LSU gymnast better than Haleigh but Chio has a shot if she stays healthy. She is certainly performing at a higher level than what Haleigh was in her sophomore season. That is no knock on Haleigh, she is one of my all time favorite LSU athletes in any sport, but just speaks to how good Chio is.

Nice to see Amari and Kalia getting settled in from early season mishaps. Seemed like it was just taking time for Lincoln to get the Olympic style power landings out of her system and focus on the sticks.

Lexi is low key so good. Leadoff in three events and basically taking one for the team signing up to be underscored on three events.

No offense but that mindset is bullshite and has the potential to lose us a national title every year we keep dwelling on it. The year we won, Sierra led us off with a 9.95 on beam (which one could argue for a ten on that routine). OU, Florida, UCLA, and Utah have found ways to win titles with their leadoff routines scoring 9.9+ on each event every week (sometimes going even as high as a 9.975 or a 10 in one case). If anyone is “signing up to be underscored in the leadoff spot” on any event, it’s because they showed a little bit of doubt and nerves and gave the judges a reason to put pen to paper and take a deduction, even if we know and believe it shouldn’t be taken

I don't know what your mad about here Jeez, chill.

It's not crazy to say that the leadoff is traditionally underscored. They aren't giving out 9.975 and 10's to leadoffs, they just aren't. On rare occasions you'll get a 9.95. She had a beautiful vault and stuck her landing and got a 9.85(?)) and something similar on bars with a stick. Both routines were better than a higher scoring routine that came after. Why? Because judges are always hesitant to score high on the opening routine. Hell You think the gymnasts don't know that?

And personally, I don't think that mindset is going to lose us a championship seeing as I have zero effect on what lineup Jay puts out there or any effect on how judges see a routine. The mindset quite literally means absolutely nothing in regards to this team winning a championship.

No program in the country can show the lineup of all time greats like LSU has had for the past 12 years:

Rheagan Courville
Bugs
Sarah Finnegan
Haleigh Bryant
Aleah Finnegan
Kailin Chio

Oh, Mya, I had to leave out Hambrick, but she belongs, as does Kiya prior to her injury, and Lexie when she was healthy.

I know it’s early times but do we think Coen will take her 5th year for red shirt? She is such a great beam leadoff and floor worker.

Does she have the ability to take one? I thought the NCAA voted to do away with fifth years in non-revenue sports

Well she has a medical redshirt from her freshman year I’m pretty sure.
