Violent cuts in the open field. Gets to top speed quicker.

Better route runner and receiver. Faster. Can line up in multiple spots.

Hits the edge faster and with better speed.

I don't see how you can watch berry play football and think Sheppard tops him.

And I like Sheppard.

I don’t agree with any of that other than he is probably a better receiver because that should be his actual position.

Shepard is a better natural runner and while Berry may have a faster running time, Sheppard’s running style & vision provide him the same big play opportunities that Berry gets.

The competition Berry has played has developed some bad habits. He doesn’t like contact or running between the tackles, and would much rather bounce everything outside. Speed always translates but that doesn’t mean he’ll have the same effectiveness as a guy like Sheppard who wants all the smoke between the hashes & is also a deadly 2nd level runner

Yeah it’s only a matter of time. That may not be the best 5A district in the state but he’s putting up eye popping numbers considering the competition and the highlights show it isn’t a fluke.

Good for him and Duke if he sticks with them but he’s going to have top level P4 opportunities.

Who says that's not the plan?

Plenty of room next year at both positions.

The fact they have a handful of other in-state* RBs going to high P4 schools & they are still set on just taking 2 is a pretty good indication

At the Mandeville game now.. Sheppard has two TDs and probably 100 yds rushing in the first half against Hammond.

Haha and that was basically accumulated in the second quarter! They took a minute to get going.

I like Sheppard and think he should be a take. You never know what kind of promises are made to get current guys to commit though. Maybe a 2 man RB class was a selling point.

A little odd to me he doesn’t have more SEC offers.

He would excel in a spread offense, dude is extremely elusive and has great vision. He may have the best jump cut I’ve seen at the HS level. He plays every snap for MHS and is a damn good Db too.

Army dude,

#1 quit being so sensitive, you’re on a message board with random people on the internet, what do you expect?

#2 quit stat glazing, idc what that kid has done against 5A competition, coaches don’t look at stats. They look at your upside, how easy you make it look, the intangibles that you cannot coach. Berry has IT, despite his level of competition, and right now at this stage, Sheppard does not have it yet; that may change.

Agree. With LSU's offense they need backs with some elusiveness and "make you miss" ability.

Kaleb Jackson for example has little of that.

What is Sheppard's legit ht/wt?

So question… what are the quality of his teammates? Sometimes a good OL makes running backs look better than they are, or he’s benefitting from a QB and WR so good you can’t stack the box

His OL is ok but it isn’t like they are blowing open big holes for him. He gets hit in the backfield regularly and just bounces off guys.

The O-Line is good, not great. Two Senior Tackles, and a Senior Center. Guard play is mediocre, which is where most of the heat comes from. He's been getting touched behind the line of scrimmage more this year than last year because of the questionable Guard play.

Last year the line played better. I have an unfortunate feeling they are going to get exposed in this year's playoffs.
