The 4.45 came from Bama camp.

Not going to argue that because I know that they have interest in him as well and I know that is is going to walk on with them. As for right now he is going down early to work with the football team. Apparently he has a roster spot with the team already and has to wait and see with the baseball team until this summer. Regardless he will wear purple and gold in some fashion.

As I said in my earlier post, he ran a 4.45 at the Bama camp. Also he has run down several SEC players over the last few years. As I always heard the coaches say: Mark is fast enough.... Doesn't matter who's after him he is just fast enough to out run them or just fast enough to catch them...

He is going to surprise a lot of folks in BTR

He is a legit 6'2". I have no reason to embellish my statement.

Add to all that he is a 2 time all American too.

Does Mark Laird really warrant 6 pages?

Apparently he is the new Houston Bates.

Seen him several times in both sports, he is a legit walkon. And he is 6'2". Wish he would go to ULM though.

here is a kid for the 2013 class, was 1A most valuable in football and baseball, plays safety, and end in football, pitcher in baseball, and lead off hitter. check his stats.......this is a shame................

You are right what a great football player sometimes I don't understand the logic.

Never seen him on the football field. Seen him on the diamond several times. As athletic as he is, he just seems so raw/unathletic hitting and pitching.

I will be surprised if he makes it in baseball as a position player. Now on the bump, he can locate 3 pitches. Not overpowering stuff, but when you can locate that many pitches in HS, you're gonna dominate. IMO, that's his best position.

But everyone that I've talked says he's a way better football player.

I've seen Laird play a few times over his career both in baseball and football. In regards to football, he is tall enough and fast enough to play at LSU. He also has great hands. He will need a few years in the weight room to put on some bulk before he ever makes a contribution to the team. As for baseball, I think his future is in centerfield. He is very rangy and he would definitely help us on the base paths. His production in high school is unquestioned, but to say he was a better high school wr than anyone on our roster may be a bit of a stretch. He is a good character guy that will have a positive impact on whatever team he lands on.

Believe it or not Laird is on with Aaron Dietrich on ESPN Radio Ruston this morning.

He said he is probably going to walk on at LSU.

He doesn't seem like a guy we would offer without seeing him in camp first, given everything that has been said. That doesn't mean he isn't the steal of the class of '13, but we have too much to sell to prospective DBs to be settling at that position, especially when he is apparently willing to walk on. He could be one of the top 150 players in the country, and I'd still say don't be the first to offer a 1A, in-state prospect unless you're certain he's better than everyone else out there.

He's a senior, not 2013.

Sophomore highlights Before you dismiss the class he plays in, Eric Edwards played at the same school.

Nice move he made at 2:49 in the video.

I don't see the reasoning behind all the hate? The kid is quick. Hands seem OK, but I didn't see any real cover CB talent to test it.

I hope he walks on, and its a good story all around if he makes the field.

I think people are miss using the word hate here. I have seen people talk about his level of competition with the stats he put up and that is a legit thing to talk about because they can be skewed. That is not hating at all, just adding another view of the situation.

Also, we all know there have been kids who have excelled being from that classification but that is not the norm and at the end of the day the kid is a really good looking player and I am happy he is going to walk on with us. Might be a diamond in the rough.

If he walks on you gotta give him props. Could probably go to LaTech or Monroe and play right away--probably the route I would take.

If he believes in his talent then I will be rooting for him to succeed. With his past achievements its obvious the guy is a player.
