Since when did Maclin become a DE? I thought he has been a LB since he came to LSU.
I think it was the game after Sam was hurt.

not to be negative, but does anyone see why the coaches love Adams so much? I understand that he's big and athletic..but he's been quiet all year and has flat-out misses QBs when he's had the chance to make plays/sacs
He hasn't got into the backfield as much as Mingo, or Sam Montgomery, but he's better against the run than Mingo and overall holds his own in both run and pass defense. I wouldn't say Lavar is better than him, but I think they have similiar ability. Personally, I think he's the best man for the job at DE besides Montgomery.

Observations:
Lavar has made more plays...picks, sacks, tackles
and Lavar is stronger off the ball..he gets penetration more often on the Tackle trying to block him

Yeah, Ego will be inside. I think the DT rotation will have Downs, Brockers, Ego, Freak, and possibly even Bennie Logan.
Is Davenport never gonna be as good as he was advertised?

Alot of people on here think he will be a member of attrition.

If he turns the corner, he still can be really good. The talent is there. But in the ULM game, Logan looked like he's coming along well. They knew Logan was a project, but he seems to be progressing nicely. Davenport just needs to put in more effort.

Did Davenport even see playing time in our two garbage games?
Posted on 11/21/10 at 7:08 pm to memphisplaya
Did he look good in them or has even Logan passed him up?

Davenport should accept the move to offensive guard. He is going to be 3rd string again next year if he stays on the d-line.

Freak would be in the mix roation 4 DTs, but Rasco might be too light at 227lbs. at DE. What do you guys think?
Posted on 11/22/10 at 11:21 am to apostel tiger
IF Rasco comes to LSU he'll have to gain some weight. But he's a great player and should see some playing time.

Rasco may very well start next year. Texas is losing several seniors.

Lavar >> Adams imo. Like the other poster said. He's been completely quiet the whole year. People use the 'solid against the run' argument for guys that don't make a lot of impact when the fact is that he just has not been very good. Lavar is certainly not perfect but he asserts himself into the game at times. I was really surprised that they kept Lavar on the same side w/ sammy as opposed to having them starting opposite each other at the beginning of the season.

Barring injury Freak could become the first freshman since Booger to start at D-tackle. He's that good. At any rate he'll be in the rotation with Brockers, Downs and Davenport IMO. The Tigers will be pretty loaded at defensive end with Montgomery, Mingo, Edwards, Adams and Chancey. Rasco may see some time but I could see him redshirting like Montgomery, Mingo, Edwards and Aghayere all did.

Rasco is not 227.I know the sites are listing him at that weight but he's not that small.i've heard he is at close to 250 these days. You can look at him and tell he's not 227.Also he's probably not going to gain a lot of weight. His body is very close to being maxed out. That is the biggest knock on him from every recruiting service.
Posted on 11/22/10 at 6:21 pm to lsufanva
If he is 227, then he's the best put together 227 I've ever seen and has a freakishly light bone structure. I'd go 245ish, regardless, the kid can play and has that winners mentality that we all love
Posted on 11/22/10 at 6:39 pm to joechristoppher77
Joechristoppher77,That's what i mean, the kid is not even close to 227.I have been very critical of Rasco based on his jr. film but from what I've seen this year he definitely looks like the kid that everyone wanted as a Soph.I think he has taken his game up a notch this season and is worth at least a good measure of the hype that surrounded him. He's not the player that everyone made him out to be though.Still a good SEC caliber DE.
