Both have great arm strength
Noah Shepard? Because you obviously didn't see Russell Shepard throw in high school if you thought he had "great arm strenght".

My reason for comparing the two is I hope Jennings isn't our next good high school QB that doesn't pan out at the QB position.
Why not compare him to Rettig?
And I've said it a million times on here, Shepard was never going to be an SEC QB. He can't throw worth a damn. Ware has thrown more passes than Shepard and there's a reason for that.

don't get where people get the idea black QBs = dual-threat.
Thank you...TigerNation will be very pleased with this kid in about 2-3yrs...I can see Jennings and Rettig in a really tight battle for the starting QB spot.

Jennings is an Qb that happens to be athletic whereas Shep was an athlete who happened to play Qb. What encourages me most about Jennings is he seems to have pretty good pocket awareness and doesn't panic under duress. In situations where Shep most likely would have just bolted, he buys time and makes the throw.

Watch out! The joke of recruiting rankings just moved Jennings up from 226 to 211 overall!

Agree with Jennings by a mile. Shepard's ranking was only because of his athleticism. Tyrone Swoope, as bad a qb as he is currently, is a better QB prospect than Shepard was. His physical tools as a passer are much superior. Mentally, I don't know.
I'm definitely rooting for Shepard to have a great year this year both on a team level and personal level. Can't take awy the good he has done for the program as a salesman. One of those kids you just wish the best for.

So who is going to make the "Jefferson vs Rettig. Who is the better QB?" thread?

Jennings is either QB or bust. We didn't recruit him to be an athlete. He's a PS QB and I can't really compare him to Shep unless its with their HS highlights. And no one fricks with Russy's HS tape. No one.

Yeah but I hope people actually have some sense and do not go that route.

It's not even close. I lived in Katy, tx when RS was in high school and war he'd him play a few times. Never saw anything that made me believe he would be a college QB. Great athlete but never showed signs of being a good passer. Jennings looks like he has potential as passer.

He's a pro-style QB with good mobility, but he is not a runner by any means. He's a pass-first guy definitely. He does have good speed and combined with his mobility on the high school level he is smart at getting some rushing yards, but he is not a dual-threat QB by any shape of the mind.
this all sounds familiar.

fwiw mike farell had jennings among his top 2 in terms of mechanics out of the 25 QBs that participated

you mean Jennings vs. Rettig? If this were the rant we could probably go ahead and line up the would-be supporters of each.

Two completely different styles, imo.
This comparison reminds me of the dude on the rant who believes Jennings needs to move to slot wide receiver.
Nevertheless, until Jennings takes a snap. The majority of the folks on here will say they are afraid that he's going to be like Jefferson.
morons.

Jennings is way way better at QB. Shep is a much better athlete.

Rivals had him 5th out of the 25 at the Elite 11.
