Trovon Reed film evaluations:

ESPN:
quote:

Reed is one of the most explosive and sudden prospects this class has to offer. He plays as a wing/slot in a run-oriented option scheme where he is asked to carry the ball far more than he receives it, but his open-field run skills are elite. He has good size and a lean build that will continue to bulk up and mature. He has experience as a safety and return man, but his playmaking skills should keep him on offense as a wide receiver. Reed gets from zero to 60 in a hurry and can wiggle and cut with the best of them. Possesses tremendous vision and lateral agility. His top-end speed is outstanding and he is a home run threat every time he catches the football. He is the type of player that is capable of making multiple defenders miss in a short area of space and has a great feel for what is going on around him. His feet, hips and ability to accelerate could make for a great corner prospect, but much like Andre Debose in the 2009 class, it is likely he will end up on offense where you can get the ball in his hands on a consistent basis. Reed is a guy that will create mismatches and you better know where he is lined up when the huddle breaks. He is going to have to develop as a true wide receiver in terms of route running techniques and experience, but the learning curve won't take long. From a pure talent standpoint, Reed could contribute right away and he could do so at more than one position. Outstanding prospect.

He poses a good question. I mean honestly there is NO WAY he falls somewhere in between, right?

Reed at #8 is laughable. I am not sold on Reed as a 5 star player but he is a lock for top 100 player nationally which puts him at the WORST still in the top 5!

I am with Books on Nick Jacobs--there isn't enough film to rank him that high at this point.

I think Elliot Porter is too low at 11. This is could be a big sleeper.

do you think that maybe because he plays out of postition in HS that the some people think he will have a hard time transistioning to WR in college?

Simon will have to have a huge year to make it into the Top 100. Maybe late with a good showing in the AA games.

I've been saying that he could be this year's Janzen Jackson (not the decommit) getting a big jump on Rivals during his Senior year. It doesn't take being invited to an all-star game to get that. His film from his spring game was extremely impressive.

They shouldn't. The guy has lit it up at every Combine he's attended as a WR. That's why Rivals rates him so high.

I agree. I've seen him play basketball though, and he is a stud physically. So I can see just from that that he has a lot of potential.

+1

This dude hits like a freight train and makes everyone else on the field look like a pussy.

Close to, if not better, film that Janzen's at this point last year IMO.

Anyone think that QB Jeremy Meyers (37) gets an offer from LSU or another SEC school somewhere down the road? Scout ranked him as # 16 in the state. Curious because he went to middle school with me.

I was unaware that the coaches were behind the ranking of the Tigerbait LA Top 40.

I am high on Vinson but this is not where he should be, at least at this point in the process.

LSU might offer Meyers preferred walk on. IMHO from what I've seen in person Meyers greater than or equal to Broadway. Broadway and Munchie really slipping
