this is where i am with it...
not panicked, but very underwhelmed at the additions so far... maybe these guys are depth pieces, but looking at the guys we've lost, if you stack them next to the ones we are picking up, it's hard not to see a downgrade, so far...

and you would have said the same thing last year for Chambliss and Lacy, a DII QB and Mizzou's backup RB

All you unrealistic people thought Ole Miss players would be lining up to leave their playoff team. With pay for play there isn’t much coach loyalty these days.

Where do all you betas come from? Is this how you live your lives? Passively?

Lacy wasn't a complete unknown... and like i said in another thread, had the Simmons injury not happened we may still not know about Chambliss...
look, i get it... some of these lesser rated players may blow up... but as i see known commodities roll off the board and the only guys left to get are unknowns that we now have to be ok with out of a lack of option, it's hard to not feel underwhelmed from what we thought we'd be doing right now, which was getting pretty much every guy we target, as Lane has done well in the portal and supposedly we were giving him this large warchest to run with...

a 3* star recruit and the 18th ranked RB in the portal, you would have 100% been "underwhelmed" with him

I keep seeing this and once again, its just you all being disappointed that LSU isn't meeting your own made up expectations
wild stuff

I’m not reading all that, but anyone panicking needs to find another interest. The roster will be solid come spring.

Too much but i do expect overall disappointment in the portal class. Its not the same as past years, everyone has roster money thats allocated to the portal with alot less roster turnover. Its going to take some time.

If there’s significant movement into the portal from the teams still in the playoffs, then waiting might be an acceptable strategy for some positions. The quality of players who enter may be better.
I don't understand that - there are only 4 teams left in the playoffs.
There is just way more movement of LSU players into the portal than I expected. Even with a "clean house" mentality, this seems like a lot.
On the one hand, I get the offense definitely underproduced. On the other hand, I just can't see us signing 40 from the portal.

perhaps... but i also know it feels, at least to me, a lot like when we are in the running for a top recruit, only to lose out to another school...
i get it... you feel differently... and that's cool... doesn't invalidate the way i see it, it's just different from your POV... it is what it is...

maybe, dunno... but i do know that i had at least heard of the kid before then... can't really say the same about the guys we've gotten, to this point... maybe the big fish are still on the line, dunno... but so far we've not reeled in any of the top guys that have been confirmed to have visited... you see it differently than i do, so good on ya...

Has there ever been not enough panic? Asking for a friend…

You heard of the Missouri freshman that had 23 carries for 104 yards? The guy with 5 rushes in SEC play? The guy LSU didn’t offer out of high school?
Posted on 1/5/26 at 2:31 pm to rmnldr
I agree that this is not a one-year turnaround. It would be foolish for LSU to over-spend on every "top tier" NIL seeker especially since there are so many holes to fill both starters and reliable back-ups. There seems to be a belief that it's easier to hold on to players after you get them than trying to buy them now, so prioritize needs for 2026 and finish it out for 2027. If we go 9-3 next year, that will be a significant improvement and a base from which we can go all in in 2027.

Trust the process. It will work itself out. Lane knows how to field a productive offense.
Posted on 1/5/26 at 2:34 pm to Smokin Joe Dumas
I think people are panicking bc its apparent Lane can’t move heaven and earth.
Its gonna take him and his guys time to get things rolling here.

might be because i watch a lot of SEC football, but yeah, i had heard the name before... i'm not saying the dude was a fricking stud when I saw him or anything, but i had at least heard the name...why does everyone have to go to the extreme to try to conflate what someone is saying, as some sort of attempt of delegitimatizing someone's point of view? i never made a comment about Lacy's talent... i said i heard of him before he went to Ole Miss.. what's so earth shattering about that?
Posted on 1/5/26 at 2:45 pm to Smokin Joe Dumas
Quit showing your vagina. Man the frick up.

Because you’re full of shite and you’re using that full of shitness to make a point about LSUs current portal RB commit.
You never heard of Kewan Lacy, just like you’ve never heard of Marquise Davis.

I side with DBG. Kiffins skill is his analysis of players that fit his system.
Nobody knew who kewan lacy was and if they say they did they are lying.
