I think due to the covid redshirt rule we will have better retention in the next 1-3 years of those younger guys who was on the team in 2020. I'm hoping BK and the staff can help
those kids make the decision to stay that extra granted year. That's why I'm not worried about only signing 15-17 true freshman

I think, ideally, we sign 5 more on NSD.
1. LB- Perkins
2. S- Matthews
3. TE- Lewis
4. RB- Citizen
5. WR- Douglas
Then you save those last two spots for spring transfers. And ideally they would be used for a SEC starting-caliber tight end(Darnell Washington?) and center.
That would round out the roster perfectly.

I'm looking at the portal as the mechanism to address immediate need, and as a way for BK to bridge the gap to when his own HS classes are actually on the field.
In some instances, it might be advantageous for the school to get the scholarship back quickly.
From my understanding, if you undersign a HS class in a particular year, then you can exceed the 25 hard cap next, provided you have the available schollies to offer.
Roster management...

Need TE & dB and wr and need a lock down rb cause no one on roster has shown that yet

Yes. if you sign 20 in '23, you can back fill and sign 30 in '24 (I think tho, you can only back fill with Early Enrollees? Not positive about it just being EEs)
Posted on 1/27/22 at 1:02 pm to irishTiger18
Sounds right with the EE's. And if the student is a late enrollee, then you could still oversign and apply to the next year's class. Provided the scholarships are available.

Have you been in a fricking cave the last few weeks? We’ve signed 12 transfers for christs sake.

No haven't been in a cave. I been laying in the snow for last few weeks enjoying it.
It appears you've inadvertently responded to a post/question directed to me, Lowes. Unfortunately, that looks to others like you are not in fact a human with your own opinions, but an Alter of me.
Could you clean this up with a post here and mention the 3 folks who thought you were an Alt? They are Ronk, Jugular Joe, and DCtiger1
Thanks, My Man!

Who is our projected 1 and 2 at center right now?
Apparently Shorts can play C but would he be more comfortable at T/G? Martinez/Hill/Turner/Evans/Dellinger work there? Or would any of those guys be more productive at G? I've mentioned another OL from the portal would be able to clear up a few spots and solidify depth. We've got two Freshman studs (hopefully) that should see PT too.
Must be pretty fun to Coach that unit right about now!
I brought up Delly at C early last year but have no idea if he's ever snapped a ball. His frame is something like the guys BK & Quinn have favored for years, but still - who knows!

Center is the only huge need right now. Could use a conventional legit TE, but not as worried about that. Any other position we add to is just lagniappe. Already did a fairly good job taking care of the other areas that lacked depth, not that we couldn't add more.
I would be really worried if we go into the season with Turner as our starting center unless he has made some giant leap forward. Other than that we would be converting some other OL to the position which who knows if we have one that can really quickly adapt and do well at the position. People talk about Martinez or Hill, but we need an experienced center from the portal who we could just plug into the starting line.

You sound like a combination of many of my recent posts regarding a center, Boxcar!!
Center is currently our biggest need on this team now.

Center. Watching Shanahan get absolutely destroyed last year the position needs to seriously be addressed.

"Yeah. Just climbed out.
If there are guys in the portal who can make a decision up till roughly 10am tomorrow other than the 12 we've already signed - for crissakes - AND they want to come to LSU, AND the coaches have some interest then hopefully there's enough NIL $ for a player or two.
But c'mon, does anybody really think that a Staff that is working it's plan so well and is in excellent alignment like this one hasn't thought this or other less than likely occurrences/situations through?"
