Says who? Maybe not an early rd guy but he'll make it.

Detillier:
"If healthy, Kwon Alexander is a better pro prospect than Lamin Barrow. I would give him a 3rd/4th round pick grade. On defense, the hardest decision is Kwon’s. He is coming off a really good year and he is a playmaker and athletic. "

Don't complain till after signing day.. I think we are going to land a big one as a surprise.. Keion Joyner is all Lsu 2016 and if we land Devin White 2016.. We will be good..

Isn't white one of these " i wanna play rb" lb'ers?

Yeah that's kind of the way it works. Starters leave and backups become starters.

Debo, Louis, beckwith, Riley, feist, Garret. Not a bad top 6 to have.
Very high hopes for Debo in particular. He's going to be a star.

That's what I'm saying. Louis came on during the later part of the year and Debo is a playmaker almost every time he is on the field. Riley really impressed me as well, and could be better than most think. Beckwith and Garrett round out a solid bunch. Even with Kwon possibly leaving, the experience and athleticism is still plentiful.

Next year will be a problem though. We need at least two OLBs this year so we don't have to play a bunch of true freshman as back ups in 2016.

Right now we'll have senior Riley, RS sophomore Garrett, and redshirt sophomore Donnie. That is a good starting lineup, but that's only 3 whole LBs for 2016. I'd like at least two OLBs for this class.

Again, I'm talking about OLB, not beckwith and garrett. When you plug in backups assuming they'll just step in with no drop-off and without replenishing talent thats spells disaster. They were backups for a reason.

If you want another blocker on the LOS, recruit another OL, put an eligible number on him if it makes you feel better, and NOT throw to him just like LSU doesn't throw at the TE now.

The tes were open all season. The qb just needs to throw it to him.

How has Louis been a 'bust' this year?

LL killed it the last 5 or 6 games, slide Debo to Kwons spot and we will be fine.

He did? He "killed it"? Last 6 games:
Florida: 0 tackles
Kentucky: 0 tackles
Ole Miss: 3 assists
Alabama: 1 tackle, 2 assists
Arkansas: 2 tackles, 5 assists
Tx A&M: 0 tackles

What exactly were YOU watching??

Louisiana produces high quality and quantity of RBs, WRs, DBs, DTs (historically). Not as much so for QBs, OL, and LBs.

Because it's more important to recruit 4-5 TEs per year. TE is soooo crucial to our offense whereas our LBs rarely see the field on defense.

Louis played well towards the end of the season, especially in the Ole Miss and Bama games. He was very physical and was able to get off blocks. The LB unit will be good in 2015, the year after is when things get questionable because the 2016 class will be relied on to contribute as soon as they step on campu

Agree with everything you wrote, Smash. Louis was solid this year, and he was excellent by the end of the season. And these knuckleheads on here who don't think we need LBers this year because we'll be stacked in 2015, don't understand that you recruit for your needs two and three years from now, not next year. We just lived through sucking at MLB because it took one and a half seasons for Beckwith's light to come on.

Fantastic athlete but major problem finding a position in the pros. He is small even by college standards and by pro standards, way too small to be an NFL LBer.... not even remotely close! Obviously he could be a special teams demon which would buy him 3 years in the pros. The way the NFL salary scale works, after 3 years, teams can't afford to keep guys simply on special teams without another position.

That would be nice, but we need more than just those two. 2 0r 3 would be nice this year. Add Divinity to that list for 2016 too.

2016 LBs........2016

Duke Riley 6-1 225 jr
Ronnie Fiest 6-2 230 sr

Kendall Beckwith 6-3 245 sr
Clifton Garrett 6-2 230 jr

Donnie Alexander 6-2 225 jr
