I think the 2 NC over the last 4 years probably has more to do with it than playing Jack linebacker.

Same argument could be made about LSU and D lineman. Tyson Jackson and Glen Dorsey haven't exactly been stars or anywhere close. The purpose of college is to get the players drafted and drafted highly. What they do in the NFL is on them and the NFL coaches. Different game in the NFL as much as people try to say it's not. If the scouts make mistakes in evals and pick guys to high then that's their problem. Bama got the LBs drafted ahead of what their talent says they should've in most cases. Job well done. Same with LSU and defensive lineman. Who really thought Tyson Jackson was a top 3 pick? No one. He wasn't even dominant at LSU. Not even close to it. Dorsey just got drafted by the wrong team. He is not a 3-4 DE. That was on whatever dumbass drafted him at KC. Rolando McClain had huge question marks before he got drafted where he did. Saban's system covered up his faults and trouble spots.

The REC covered up the rest of his problems.

Probably true. Same with Kirkpatrick. Funny how all these kids test positive for drugs after they're done playing but not while playing. Are we really supposed to believe they aren't smoking while on the team? C'mon. It's like the UGA kids now getting suspended when everyone knew these kids failed drug tests during the season and yet still played. At least be somewhat honest about stuff because really who cares if the kids smoke a little reefer?

When they drafted him they were 4-3 team, but after his rookie year they brought in a new coaching staff that switched to a 3-4.

Saban used the pitch of knowing how to get guys to the NFL due to his experience there even when he was at LSU. capstone is right, as long as they have tons of guys getting drafted, it will work. Even if guys don't become stars in the NFL, 17-18 y/olds think they are better and will be different.

Says the Alabama guy.

I think the jack linebacker sell is actually the correct answer here. Everyone loves the jack linebacker.

Until Alabama stops sends LBs to the NFL in droves, we'll have success with this recruiting pitch

Since Saban arrived at Bama, LSU has had more LBs drafted (2; Sheppard '11, Riley '10) than Bama has (1; McClain '10).

Not quite. Since Saban arrived at Bama, LSU has actually had more DL drafted (5) than Bama has (3). Since Miles arrived at LSU, the margin is even wider (8 to 4).

Maybe there is a perception that Bama sends "droves" of LBs to the NFL, but it's not from the draft.

What position would he play for us?? Doesn't look like or play like a linebacker. Not nearly polished enough to play QB. Tight end may be his best position???
