my entire point, try to grasp this, is that the player should not be relegated to his star ratings only! i have yet to see a rating for the amount "heart" a player has... is that not a characteristic of a great player? i'm just saying that there is much, much more to it than labeling some guy because of someone's opinion...
Dude...Drop it! Geezzzz! We know how you feel about the rankings, but the problem is nobody really cares! You're like a broken record with your shite...

once again... this time i'll say it slow, so you catch this time, hopefully....

my... opinion...is... as... valid... as... yours...

i will say what i want to say in it's entirety, as i am in compliance with the boards rules...

i'm not taking shots at you, i'm not "flaming", i'm not cussing at you, etc.

if you don't want to hear what i have to say, don't read it... period

also to you, i haven't cussed at you so you too i expect at least the same respect that i have given to you in that regard... understand?

I wanted to read about Spencer Ware, not your oppinions about star rankings.

Thanks for highjacking a thread about something positive happening to one of our recruits.

The people in this post really don't care what you think about star ratings.

In fact, I think you should start a thread about it and see how many people come join it with you.

Lee Chatlin would join you if you changed your agruement to "I want 2 and 3 star Louisiana boys that really want to play for LSU. Screw all those out of state five stars."

Ware is the real deal, my only concern is his breakaway speed. But runs really tough between the tackles and looks hard to bring down after initial contact.

Who was that d-bag a while back who criticized the coaching staff for recruiting Seastrunk instead of Blue(who, oddly enough, is committed now) and Justin Hunter instead of James Wright(who has an offer now) because they weren't "Louisiana boys"?

Know what's even easier? Starting a new thread to discuss the validity of star rankings instead of highjacking a thread about a specific recruit.

what i don't get is when the common fan 'wants' a guy when he's a 5 star recruit, but let that same guy fall to a 3 star, and no one, i mean NO ONE, will banging the drum to still recruit him!! is that right? what makes him, in the mind of the fan, no longer a good player? because someone else said so?!?

WHY DO YOU CARE SO MUCH WHAT FANS THINK??

Fans aren't going to always know on the NFL Draft, picking the NFL, picking the NBA, the NBA Draft, etc. They are just fans!!!!

I have no idea why you act like this is some travesty that fans may want one player over another. Who cares!!!

and i call bullshite on the "most posters don't care about star ratings" statement... if you look at most of the post here, one of the first things that comes out about the player is how many stars he currently has... for example, John Doe, 5 star from Texas, or whatever...

It's a statement of fact man. It's nearly impossible to talk recruiting without talking stars. It just comes with the territory.

It's no different than saying John Doe, Texas, 4.3 40, 39 inch vertical, hands like glue, runs routes like Jerry Rice.

The stars are a manifestation of all considered attributes+potential.

Well that's nearly impossible to judge. And they try to gauge it as best they can. It's one reason Cassius Marsh jumped so high - because of the unbelievable effort he gave during the practices.

When Barry Every talked up La'el Collins he mentioned how players as big and as talented as him rarely play as hard as he did all night long. That's a testament to the heart factor you are mentioning and Collins is a bonafide 5 star stud.

Just because its not listed in their measurables and stats doesn't mean its not considered. Read some of the write ups on Jarvis Landry and you'll see that people look at that too

Emmitt Smith? 4.55-4.6 speed is fine for a running back.
